AMD Catalyst 13.1 and PCMark7 oddities
So, I'm in the process of doing a big re-bench, since the new WHQL drivers are out. In the midst of testing, I discovered I had some issues with PCMark7, with lower performance noted, so I proceeded to test a couple other systems, and VGAs as well. Unfortunately, I only have a select few VGAs to test.
This is what I found: Clearly, something is wrong here. With Catalyst 12.10, everything works fine, and performance is much better. If the card doesn't artifact like this screenshot, then performance is just absurdly low, even in just the first test. Rather than starting to build yet another system for testing, I figured I'd ask and see if anyone else has noted similar. So, anyone else have any issues with AMD Catalyst 13.1 and PCMark7?

Never tried it..I dont have that program installed on my PC its so wonky in its results (almost as bad as 05!) Have you tried with the 12.11 beta's (which are essential 13.1 non WHQL of course)?

They're just seeing if you're paying attention.
![]() If PCMark7 is free, I'll try it tonight. Have my 7870 using 13.1 right now. |

Thanks for the input guys...really just looking to confirm the problem isn't just on my end. If it is just a general bug, that's actually good, I'll skip the 13.1 re-bench and stick with 12.10.
As to the results, EarthDog, I do not seem to have much problems with the bench, but then, I am using the Pro version, not the normal one, and I am not sure that this issue isn't part of the version I use, or whathaveyou.

May not be of interest to You, But I installed 13.1 on my Gaming PC which is running HD6950, and I had Some strange artifacts, similar to the image You posted. Also some Strange "glitching" during DayZ game play. All of which were NOT present W/ 12.10.I'll see if My 7970LCS has any issue's with 13.1.

Really? This stuff happens all the time.
Like I mentioned though, I'm using the 12.11 beta 11 drivers. I have issues with nothing. I don't really care about this benchmark, other than helping Dave out. I'll try 13.1's now. |

Okay, with these I get video, no distortion, however performance is bad. Clocks seem to go to 925/1375 during this test even though my card is clocked at 1100/1500.
During the DX9 test my clocks actually go to 1100/15500 however, It uses about 50% GPU at most. The web browsing part failed. Playing various formats of video and games I have no issues, other than Arma 2 where the GPU usage tanks after about 10 minutes or so. |

I only let it do one loop, it started on a second and I cancelled it, then looked for a loop option, which I could not find. Downloading stuff these days is a bitch... I had to cancel 3 different 7zip download before finding the right one
