Samsung Series 9 mousepad going crazy overheat
Hi,
Ive just bought a Samsung series 9. When I put the laptop on the floor or on my bed to mouse pad goes crazy. The guys at Samsung dont want to look at it because they tell me I shouldnt put it on the floor or on my bed. I have had many laptops including ultrabooks but putting them on the bed has never caused this problem. They would just slow down, give a warning and so forth. The wierd thing is that then i put my hand under the body or lift the laptop up instantly the mouse is fixed. It does not need any cool down time. Do you guys reckon this is normal? |

i'd say its not normal, but what you're doing is also rather bad for the laptop. you're blocking the cooling vents and that does far more than slow it down - it seriously will damage the laptop over time.

In most laptop owners manuals, which no one ever reads, it specifically states NOT to put it on a bed. And thus, I have to assume that your floor is carpeted which will also block the cooling vents. |

i can only assume that something related to the touchpad (its not a mousepad) is overheating really fast, and cooling down really fast too. that or theres some physical damage to the wiring for it, and its being pressed upon.

Thanks fr your responses.
Ill try putting a book under my laptop thats a good idea. Ive downloaded speedfan to keep my temp in check. What is a good operating temp? Also, this laptop has two fans. One of the Fans is usually powerful, and u can feel the air pressure if you put your ear next to the air vent. The other fan is very weak and barely blows air out even though it is working. Is that normal? |

What strikes me as very odd is that it happens when you have it on the floor. What happens if you have it on a desk? Because they are both just flat surfaces.

I know this does not help to much... but, from looking through the different forums; that series of laptop has a lot of people complaining about the mousepad being erratic, un-responsive or quirky.
Some are finding that the seller/vendor has turn off the multi-touch. Might be a reason behind that action. Some seem to have fixed it with new drivers. Others have had to use an A/C noise filter to stop line noise. And, then some have RMA and/or returned them for defective pads. EDIT: Here is an interesting web page: Samsung Series 9 touchpad issue RESOLVED! And, if, you read the comments you can read about some of the oddities others are having. A couple seem close or the same as yours. Last edited by 95Viper; Feb 3, 2013 at 03:03 AM. |
