I got this one also.

Its good, The only thing I dont like about it is it gets hot about 8C hotter when its your main drive or as a storage drive when transferring files.

27C average to 35C when used a lot.

I also have the WD10EZEX it doesnt get hot and is quieter single plater and slightly faster sustained transfer then the WD1002FAEX. Its Caviar Blue so no 5yr warranty like the black but it stays cool and quiet 25C main drive or storage transferring.

Either way they are both good drives.

Depends on the drive, I have never seen mine go past 24C

I used to have 3 of those HDDs. 1 lasted 8 months (used as a main OS drive) and the other 2 a little more than a year (storage). They run hot so it's better to have a fan pushing air through them and have this clicking noise when used as a main drive although I've read that it's normal for blacks. After the 3rd one failed I decided to buy an SSD as a main drive and greens for storage. I've really had bad luck with Blacks.

Maybe. I'm not so lucky.

All my Caviar Black drives have always ran hotter then my Caviar Blues.

My WD1002FAEX is manufactured in Jan 2013. Even tho it was introduced 2010.

The WD10EZEX has the newest tech. Mines manufactured Dec 2012. Introduced in 2012.

No Caviar Black has been introduced with a Single 1TB plater and the improved arm yet.

Normal. My WD Blacks run hotter as well. Not at any temperature to be concerned about though.

and dont HDDs actually run and last longer at warmer temps anyway? From what i remember altho granted thats probably more of a sub 0 vs room temp situation but I digress 35-40c still nothing to worry about my old WD 500GB runs at like 45c when its being used, been going strong for 7 years now lol

I've got two Caviar Black 1TB drives and they work very well. This is a good buy.
