Dont touch Asus. I have just had to RMA a motherboard(crosshair V formula) that destroyed my 8350 CPU, which is also being RMA'd. I am still waiting for replacements 2 weeks later. There are cheaper and more reliable alternatives for 7950's. Always 7950, you wont be disappointed, 7870 is just too midrange for my liking.

I have a Sapphire 7870 OC edition and its more than enough for my gaming needs. I would only get a 7950 if the price was right and i had a larger monitor.

I swear they are cheaper on Dabs.com
Sell the games, hey presto, GPU that technically cost less than £200
bought both my 7950's from dabs and got 16 games free. Not that that offer is on anymore.

Id always go single 7950 than future 7870, dual cards present problems on occasion...
as for brand get anything you like except Asus, but thats my personal preference. Dabs were the only place to have the XFX 7950 DD for £206 when i bought mine.

hmm yea I still love the look of asus especially there 7870 and diectcu2 arrangement and the heat pipes should be on sexyhardwarecloseup! well I wont be crossfiring for several months till I get fx8series, mobo and psu! and the 7950 comes with 3 games one of which I been trying to download for ages lol

what sort of fps am I looking at with the xfx 7950?

Well in Crossfire i get 212fps on sleeping dogs, 178 on LoL, 145 on Path of Exile, and 172 on BF3, so just halve those and add a little bit on top and theres your single performance ;D. But seriously, with a gentle oc of 1.2ghz core and 1400 memory you'll be hitting 60fps in everything except Metro 2033, which you need dual cards to touch 60fps with.
If you like the Asus, by all means go for it, the Direct CUII cooler is excellent, just make sure it doesnt break or go wrong, or you will be in RMA nightmare.

decisions decisions.........what I could do is buy a 7870 try it for a bit oc maybe, take it back to store get refund and then get 7950, and by that time I would have more money = better card!

but ive done that already lol and I am partial to asus, until it lets me down that is! plus if I buy the from store ill have it tomorrow! just a shame the asus 7950 hasn't got heat pipes or it would been a definite buy! and thanks for advice

+1, Great find here.
Also never buy from a brick and mortar store. You'll be paying a great deal more than the interwebs

same quality as any other 7950 here's a review for the exact card http://translate.google.ro/translate...x5.php&act=url
7970 it's just not worth the price difference for the marginal performance increase you get.

All these cards are super overkill for 1440x900,unless your going to go 1080/1200p in the near future i would suggest getting some thing alot cheaper.

Here here... FC3 is smooth at 1920x1200 on my 7870, no regrets.
