is it worth going i5 3570k from FX8350?

Hello and a very nice day to you guys

One Question here, I want to change to Intel platform as I never use any i5/i7 series before, my last intel was Q6600 before changing to Phenom..

Right now I am using an FX 8320 OC to 4ghz same as 8350 clock speed, using Gigabyte 990FX UD5 mobo with 7970 MatriX.. is it a good idea if i change from FX8320/8350 to i5 3570k+MSI Z77 GD65? I am using my PC for heavy Gaming Purpose. need all of u guys and pros opinions.. thanks

I would say no, but it depends of what game you play. Some games like Skyrim are badly optimized and can't use all cores. In cases like this one, you would get a performance gain, but in most cases you wont get enough gain to really see a difference. I personally think that changing a FX-8320 to a i5 is not really an upgrade.

Hate to say this, but I think it would be an upgrade. Pretty much any game will benefit from the i5. Oc that puppy, and it will pretty much destroy the amd.... Although the system you have is still pretty darn good. Just depends if you really want to spend the money. You might want to save up another 100 and just go i7.

For gaming with a single 7970 absolutely no.

I would say clock the FX chip more, put some of the money you wanted to spend into better cooling and have some fun, I would love the system you have atm.

Honestly don't care what anyone else says, and I don't care about benchmarks. I own both an i5 3570k and an 8350, and have tested over 300+ games on steam, and I see absolutely no real world performance difference whatsoever. I love my 8350, it rapes bitches in all games, and so does my 3570k. Unless anyone else owns both and has used both/reviewed them, I can't personally rely on their views. People argue over power consumption, bit actually the price difference at purchase between the two processors covers the difference in power consumption, we're talking a few dollars a year difference here...

No I don't think you will notice the difference, although the 3570K performs better in benchmarks so if you are starting from scratch I will point you that way.

yea I think you are sitting good already, a 8350 or i5 3570 would be better but in real world performance there would probably not be a difference and if you went intel you need to get a mobo, etc so just keep your 8320.

The real question is why do you think you need to upgrade your cpu?

One Thing You Will Gain Is Better Memory Performance And Power Consumption By Fair Margin. If It Boosts Performance In The Things You DoThen Decide If You Want To Spend That Money. Or You Could Wait For Haswell If You Want To upgrade

Wow, it's interesting...

Anyway, to answer the OP, spending $400 for 5 FPS is stupid. DO NOT BUY.

OK, now yes, OC'ed to the nuts, Intel might be faster...but my 8350 hits 5GHz. Going from a 4 GHz 8320 to a 4.5 GHz 3570k...you'll feel a wee bit more fluidity, because drive interfaces overall are faster on Intel, and cache speed is also faster.

But for gaming, man...

You also will have a system that draws a bit less power, on Intel.

I use a 3960X-based rig more often than not, so 12 threads...and to ME, a 3570k seem slow like a turtle.

While I agree with the statements on how his system is quite adequate, I find it ironic in a forum where everyone wants cutting edge performance and oc ability, to say that an ib cpu is not a step up from any amd cpu. It is, and running games will show an fps increase. Just saying.....

It's not an upgrade nor a downgrade. Unless you want to switch just to play with some new hardware it is a waste of time.

I don't think FX 8350 will enlarge his e-penis over i5-3570K. FX-8350 is a good chip, but only for those upgrading from much older generations (such as Core "Lynnfield" or Phenom II).
