New server mods found for Bad Company 2!

Battlefield: Bad Company 2′s unofficial mod support is better late than never

Tricksy modders have wrestled control of Battlefield: Bad Company 2′s architecture from DICE’s iron fist. Using… magic, probably, the community at Emulator Nexus have reverse engineered EA’s servers, allowing support for custom matches that support modifications.

In layman’s terms? Super powered helicopter rocket attacks are go.

Accessing modified servers simply requires downloading a tiny .dll file for your BC2 directory. Hosting one is vastly more complicated. Instructions are available here, for those who understand this sort of thing.

While Bad Company 2 is a bit long in the tooth, it seems Emulator Nexus’ co-founder NoFaTe is also working on Battlefield 3 server emulation. It’s still in the early stage, with no public release mentioned, but could potentially lead to user-hosted modified servers in that game too.

Thanks, MordorHQ.

I remember hacked servers a few years ago with DICE ammo, had frag rounds for shotguns and such was so much fun. sniper could call infinite mortars whole maps would crumble.

Have to get back into this again.

Watching the video made me miss the BC2 days. BF3 is great, but seems to miss some of the magic.

Been saying this since back when everyone was screaming for BF3 simply because of the damn name. And because BF3 has been more popular, we most likely will never see a return of BC2 like gameplay quite.

Hell, Burtram never made the transition over to BF3, now we never see him. He was pretty deadly with a shotgun

if it were any other company than EA then I would say definitely yes.

if the graphics for bc2 were updated to look like bf3 we would have a real winner.

You should definitely play Crysis 3 then. Clearly it's a better game since it has superior graphics.

BC2 was not really that bad in the GFX department. I do see some increases with BF3 but its not ground breaking.

Sounds like DayZ not BF3. I RARELY come across hackers.

that's because it takes twice as much game time in BF3 to have half the fun of BC2.

He's listened to these guys play it often enough. I was playing before most were, and DayZ long ago lost it's luster for me. In fact, he only trolls the clubhouse as a response to them coming into the BF3 channel in TS, and then playing DayZ. That's what began all of that.

I prefer BF3 over BC2, because of the varied map environments, each of which gives a very varied style of gameplay. There's something for everyone, now.

BC2 feels like a kindergarden jigsaw now...far too easy. While not everyone appreciates the "problems" with BF3, to me they offer a greater challenge, and I like to be challenged. I took MVP often in both BC2 and BF3, and now still do. BF3 is harder. And yes, I played BC2 recently. My son's just picked it up a few weeks ago, almost has all the unlocks now.
