Advice on cleaning my CPU Block.

So I just bought a Heatkiller 3.0, 2nd hand.
This is what the base of it looks like:

I put some 99.5% isopropyl onto it, just gave it a little shine. Any advice on cleaning this? Or should I just lap it alittle?

Looks like it needs to be lapped.

Just a light dusting with some 1000-2000, or getting down from the lower grits and fully doing it?

Honestly I am not sure. I am not a lapping master. I would just and go till in shines. Look up a lapping guide if you need more info.

Start with... say 800 grit. It will be easier starting there and you don't have to put as much work into it. (You want to lap is as little as possible) Then go 1000 to 2000 until your satisfied. You can use metal polish like Brasso to finish it off.

Oh I've got plenty of brasso....... Love spending hours shining my brass.......

Be careful to lap it on a flat surface. Thick glass will work
