Budget Upgrade from 4890 CF
So, I might be in a market to upgrage my GPUs and I am looking for a budget replacement that would give me better performance (obviously) and better power consumption/less heat. Preferably a single-card setup. Although if I can find 2 decent cards to SLI or CF, that would work.
Also, what would one be able to get for 2x used 4890s these days? |

What's your budget? I figure you should be able to get $75 for the pair of $45 each no problem.
A HD7850 or HD7870 (Tahiti LE preferred) would be a solid improvement for far less power. The GTX660 is also good

I don't really know what I want to spend ATM, since I just put in $400+ into i7+Z77 setup. BUT, I might be able to go up to $300-$350. Thank for your suggestions. The last time I owned an Nvidia card was when I had 9800GTX, how fun is PhysX? Also does it reduce performance drastically when used?

EDIT: I've never used PhysX, so I can't comment on that.

If your on a budget check out eBay for the previous gen high end stuff I got a hd5970 dual core card for £150 ~ $230 us and it was £600 new! Before that I got a 4870x2 for £100! So if you want performance on a budget it's the way to go.

Not very fun. Physx as a trademark and technology is pretty much dead. Virtually no games support it. I wouldnt make a purchase based on it, shouldn't even be an afterthought.

I'd say a 7950 which will give you great performance for the dollar on a single gpu setup. And you can always crossfire later if you want.

A 7950 will be able to max any thing at your current resolution,if you dont want to spend that much a non-ti 660 is a solid performer.

I am lost atm. Still not sure if I should grab the EVGA 660ti SC off craigslist or just buy a new one, OR grab the 670 off the tpu forums.

If it is the 670 from Soylent Joe, I'm sure it's in immaculate condition and rest assured he's a top notch seller. I wish I was getting it.

depending on the price you could probably get some of my money for one of those HD 4890's. if you do decide to sell them, be a kind man and put them up on TPU
