Current GPUs can be severely bottlenecked by your CPU so future GPUs will be depending on the tier level of the graphics card.

Your current CPU (besides budget) is what is negating the graphics card suggestions from the forum users responding to your thread, rather than what graphics card will be best for your resolution, which would have been the case if you had a more powerful CPU.

8xxx series will most likely be released much later than Q2.
The drivers for their 7xxx series still need work even though the drivers have come a very long way from what they were when the 7xxx series were released.
To me it doesn't seem like a good idea to be releasing another series of GCN based GPUs when they are still working on the drivers for GCN architecture.

My e7400 bottlenecked a single gts 250 I couldn't get more than 60% usage out of it until I clocked it up to 4.2ghz.

if i were you i would upgrade the CPU first.

Please hit start, go to run, and type DXDIAG. There should be a button that says "Save All Information." Press that and save the file called "DxDiag.txt" and remember where it's located. Open the file and copy paste the contents under the section labeled System Information into a new forum post. That should give us a better idea of what exact processor you have.

Also I read somewhere that there will be two types of Radeon 8000 series. The OEM editions will be the rebadged 7000 series and the Retail versions will be based on GCN2 . Idk how accurate this info is tho ^^

As far as core 2 duo CPUs go you couldn't really do much better. If your board can OC at all you could get an even larger performance boost in a lot of games. However, more games are using multiple cores as time goes on and as stated before your CPU is going to hold you back. Not only because of being an outdated architecture, but also because of the lack of extra cores to work with.

I also would like to say that I enjoyed using the E6600 when I had it. It's now my friend's computer and it works fine for him with a Radeon HD 4850.
