Recommend a SSD

Was going to pick up a 250GB sammy pro but egg have ran out, Maybe i should wait or is there some thing else ?.

And warranty does matter to me.

With a question as unspecific as this, wouldn't you have been better off doing a couple web searches?

People will probably want to know your budget, which I suppose they could extrapolate from the current cost (in pounds) of the Samsung SSD.

You could search for "SSD round-up 2012" or "...2013", or "best ssd for £(x)".

Nonetheless, either W1zzard will show up with a LMGTFY or you'll get answers.

Just picked 2 up Corsair Force Series GT CSSD-F120GBGT-BK, all so noticed there is a slower write version but has a 5 year warranty.

They should work just nice with my intel SSD's and going put my Solid 3 in my other system which is having the mobo and cpu from this one.

Was going pick up a 7970 too but don't seem to be able to justify it.

This. Second choice after 840 Pro.

OCZ Vector seems to be good too. But I wouldn't pay extra 50$ for it.

High sequential compressible data speeds mean close to nothing in real world every day usage.

I have a Kingston SSDNow V300, since the beginning of this year. No complaints thus far, it has faster write speeds then the Crucial M4 (looking at review data) while it is not more expensive. However, there is no overprovisioning (unlike in case of the M4, AFAIK).

We have a sticky thread on SSD reviews in the storage department of the forums, BTW.

Vertex 4 is pretty nice for the price. I also have a Force 3 in my laptop that is good, but the Vertex 4 works much better with uncompressible data.

To be honest though, you are probably best going for one of the latest generation ones that gives you the best GB/$

The Force GT handles incompressible data a lot better than the Force 3 can, it's which is why I got the GTs over the 3s.

I've read good things about the drive. At the end of the day, it really depends what kind of user you are. You will notice a huge difference between any SSD and HDD, but for the average user, you will not notice much difference between a regular SSD and an enthusiast drive.

I can't tell any difference in performance between my Force 3 and my Vertex 4 although the vertex 4 performs much better in benchmarks.

I'd recommend looking at reliability first, then value.

I only got the drives I did due to availability. The Force 3 was the only reasonably priced drive available over here when i bought it and i got the Vertex 4 on black Friday for about $150 (compared to a local price of $320).

Oh - The vertex 4 has a 5 year warranty, which is better than most other drives too.

Mine was about 960 when i 1st raided them but dropped too 920 at 45% full. 4k reads are annoying at 25MBs while the writes are in the 300+
