AM3+ mobo for 840 Pro

Please can anyone with a AM3+ motherboard and an AMD FX-XXX processor who also has a samsung 840 Pro please post your motherboard model?

I need to buy another one and want to ensure compatibility with someone who already has one set-up with an 840 Pro all working.

Thanks.

System Specs

All motherboards with SATA 3 (6Gb/s) will support that SSD

Iirc, all motherboards with a chipset out of either the 8xx or 9xx series will support Sata 3.

You think that would be the case however my samsung 840 pro won't work on windows 7/8 on my asus m5a97

see - http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/sh...04#post2857604

So I am trying to see who has a set-up that works and I will just get that motherboard.

Reading through your former thread, I'd say you should contact Samsungs tech support. Any harddisk that uses SATA should conform to SATA specs. Any system capable of using SATA should be able to use any SATA HDD/SSD, regardless of OS.

Forgive me if I missed it in the other thread, but did you also try other motherboard drivers?(for instance, the ones coming from AMD's site)

Yeah I have tried EVERYTHING (I think)

chipset off AMD's website
sata drivers from asus website
standard microsoft ones

only way it works is with Linux, the drives are fine - I have bought 2 of them and tried them in different machines.

I swear it's some crazy driver issue with windows + my drive + my chipset = bad

like some kind of fluke combination.

Still a reason to contact tech support

I have done, already been onto ASUS and Samsung, they are useless...

"Thank You for contacting Samsung SSD support regarding your inquiries. Unfortunately there is no way to roll back or revert to older firmware. The only thing we can recommend is to make sure that your system is up to data, make sure your BIOS is up to date and your storage comtrollers are all up to date. Also make sure that you are not using a Marvell port, connect to Intel if possible."

great....

I am speaking to another country of samsung support to see what happens, also waiting on asus who pretty much gave a response like the above.

I am really tempted to by another board but because I know linux works it seems like a waste of money.

Well, then getting back to your original question, I cannot think of any board that wouldn't be compatible. But then again, I dont know why it doesnt work in its current configuration.

Afraid I cant help you any further, perhaps someone else has any ideas?

OK thanks, anyway

Just need to know someone who says - "I have a samsung 840 pro with a GA-990FXA-UD3" and it works fine.

Or something like that so I can just buy one and get it over with.
