what should I upgrade?

Hello guys, I´m new in this forums and I dont know a lot about hardware.
I have a intel core i5 2310cpu, and a radeon hd 6950 gpu, I want to upgrade my hardware so I am looking for advices, it would be better to change the cpu for a core i7 3770k, or to change the cpu for a hd radeon 7950?.(right now I just can change one of them), which one would give me a better performance? is for gaming, thanks(sorry for bad english)

What are the rest of your system specs? I would hazard a guess that a HD7950 would make the biggest upgrade (particularly for games). I don't know if you have a SSD or not, but if not, they're also an incredible upgrade.

I would change the cpu because if you change the gpu to a 7950 it wouldn't be happy with the i3 so this should be the first step.
why the 3770k? if its for gaming go for 3570k and save $100 for the new gpu.

His CPU is an i5 not a i3.

I would go the GPU as that will give you the biggest gains if i had to choose.

Overall, SSD would give your system the most gain. In pure fps, the GPU would be the best choice. I can't see how a SSD can cost more than a 7950 unless you want 500GB of it.

go for the Radeon 7950 first since video card have a great impact on gaming performance, your motherboard and cpu are just fine they can perform well. If you can upgrade them both they will have great impact on your system since you have a Z77 board which support 3rd generation cpu and PCI 3.0, combining i7 3770k which is 3rd Gen processor and hd radeon 7950 which is PCI 3.0 will have a very great impact on your video editing and gaming performance.
