Barcelona wafer pictures at CeBIT

It turns out that AMD has been producing Barcelona wafers for a while now. We thought you'd be very interested in the pictures that The Inquirer got for everyone that couldn't catch a plane to CeBIT in Germany.

Someone who knows should photoshop how the cores are in those hexagons. Are there like 4 in one?

http://techreport.com/etc/2000q4/cpu/p4-wafer.jpg

If they are like that in there, then wow, must be a bunch.

This is how a CPU starts off, there is a slab of pure silicon that is first "made into a processor mosaic". Then broken apart, thats a seperate CPU.

Are they changing the name from "Barcelona" to "Greyhound" ?

Methinks that Barcelona is the dual core version, and Greyhound is the quad core version.
