IBM's all new ram memory design with holes!

a friend told me he heard on CNBC today about a new ram design with chips made by IBM that have holes in them so they dissapate heat to stay cool and never get hot.

has anyone else heard about this?

nope, you sure about that? sounds really cool, it'd be really good for things like laptops when they don't offer heat spreaders.

The question is, why in hell don't they have heatspreaders on laptop dimm's?

b/c of space limitations that and remember, the dimm's are stacked onto of another (well in my laptop i believe it's that way) so you'd be spreading heat to the other dimm (stupid i know) but with holes..you could have a direct path to the other dimm's holes. this has to be a good thing for laptops
