Intel builds mini ITX motherboard around SiS chipset

After AMD bought ATI Intel stopped producing motherboards with ATI chipsets. It seems Intel has found a new partner in SiS. Using the SiS662 Intel plans to take on the VIA Epia series by introducing a similar mini ITX platform. Powered by a Yonah based Celeron 1.33 and a SiS Mirage 1 graphics chip to hardware decode DVD the D201GLY "Little valley" will feature everything required to be used in a media cente; 10/100 LAN, six USB 2.0 ports, a DDR2 slot and a PCI slot which can hold a TV tuner for example.
Pricing is unknown as of now, though Little valley should be available early June at the latest.

Because most people will use the slot for a TV tuner and most tuners are PCI.

My only gripe is that I wish they could put a slightly more powerful cpu on these things. Doesn't have to be dual core/quad core/uber powerful, but at least something that could playback HD H.264 1080p comfortably.

Completely agree. Something like a mobile version of one of the new C2D E21xx series would be nice to see.

Hmm. Good find Grings. I wonder how a build up with one of these compares in price to one of the all-in-one units like listed above?

They didnt want ATI chipsets because of AMD (kind of sorry, Intel should have still used them. To me, SiS is crappy). But they will gladly use the new form factor created by AMD. ::rofl::
