well it's the forum founders thread ask him then. He wanted feed back in the form of whats wrong so direct that to him. If you don't know whats wrong with something how can you make it better?

I am suprised this thread was alive.
The reason this was created was bc one day a bunch of people got banned from the forums.
So this thread was created to ask people and get updates.

This is an old topic and this thread should be dead.

I think he meant to say it's always a "relevant" topic because if we consistently express ways in which the forums could be made better, it will benefit everyone in the end. Am I right?

I think its relevant enough. Although most of the posts that go in here could exist as a thread themselves in this section (Comments and feedback).

No, I think you misunderstood what I was saying (no sarcasm intended, thats not sarcastic either I am actually being genuine) What I meant was, that I believe that the problems with this forum arise from people complaining too much. We don't complain this much when we're off the screen trt. Do you get what I mean? I think that because we are all talking behind a screen the normal social interaction skills are decreased (eg why teenagers love msn so much - they're crap at asking people out when they "fancy them" but it's easy on msn > see what I'm getting at) We wouldn't complain outside in the real world.

This simulated realism in an internet forum is far from reality, in truth. People are quite different in here than in real life. Some inhibitions are lost and generally we are a lot less cautious with what we say and what we do (eg why teenagers readily give information over to paedo's on the internet but not in real life). This forum falls down because of a fundamental difference between actual socialising and basic internet chat. Thus we can never truly solve this problem (I believe this, feel free to disagree here) , but just have to accept that it is there.


(EDIT: By the way, if anyone thinkis I'm trying to sound clever, I'm not. I''m just trying to explain my opinion as best I can.

Another example - younger members of the forum mouthing off adults and trying to be all big and macho when in real life they'd cower behind their parents for protection if an adult really shouted at them(I'm not disrespecting that either - children seek protection when they feel they need it, and that's perfectly natural:- so please nobody take offense).

So in conclusion I hope you can see what I'm trying to say. The social structure of an internet forum is a harder social network to keep together. It has all the problems of basic social disagreements, but also has the added issues of lack of inhibitions and caution. Complaining about them is not going to help. I agree however, that some member deserve bans. I won't say who or what bans I disagree with because that wouldn't be very contructive - and more importantly it's not my position to decide in this hierachial system. I'm just a common grunt. Complaints about other memebers and general complaining is just bringing the forum down. Constant barrages arguments and running to mods is bound to happen, but does happen to frequently. I just try and apologise if i cause anyone offense. I know I have done in the past with Xtant25. I said something i thought was quite amusing and wasn't injtended to be a flaming or anything negative, but he took it the wrong way. My sarcastic tone couldn't be seen so inevitably he thought I was being openly agressive. Conclusion---> My fault. So I apologised. No mods were needed as I apologised over pm's. In my opinion, if you insult someone unintentionally IMMEDIATELY apologise. If you insult someone intentionsally , IMMEDIATELY apologise because you were probably at least 50% of a prick. It takes two to argue.

I've just realised how long this post is, so I'm going to stop typing. I hope you understand what I've said - ie that I've made myself clear. Again: if you think I was flaming your view, trt, then it was not intentional.

yes but we have a harder time here because u can type something and mean it a complete different way and then some one gets offended but in person its a lot easer because u can see there body language and other sines they are making and other things like that

Very true, but that's the nature of the beast. With a forum that isn't nazi modded, there's going to be issues such as these. It's up to one of the members in a situation like that to step up and be the adult and let it go, move on to something worthy of their time. Hell, I've caught myself in a few of these before I look at what's going on and say "What the hell am I doing? This is rediculous!", then that's the end of it, move on. We can't have a perfect place, unless you want next to no members or stricter rules with stricter circumstances. I came to this forum for help and research, and stayed in the background for a good 6 months before I joined up and started posting, and I like this forum because it's more of an open area not as restricted or modulated into something it shouldn't be. Someone said earlier that this was created for those who've been banned on other forums, well it's kind of like Australia's origin if I remember correctly, the outcast have somewhere to go or were sent there, and made something of it, something great, not perfect, but nothing is. Imagine if I could compare this forum to the USA, sure I'm proud of my country, but it wouldn't be pretty. It's up to everyone to do what they can to make this place better, we can't always depend on mods if they're busy with something else or even living out their lives whether on or off-line.

We could push for some sort of curricula that makes newly joined members have to read through a few notes/threads before being allowed to post (I'm sure it's possible, might take some of W1Z's magic, but it could be done).

I came to this place for help, and eventually learned enough to start helping others, that's what I believe this place is about as a main perspective. Sure there's news, opinions, and many other great areas to this forum, but when it all comes down to it, new and old users alike are recieving help and helping others. This is just my input, I by no means am trying to offend anyone, this is my opinion. Thanks.

i personaly would advise anybody thingking of posting anything here to think twice if they have any critisism of danthebanjoman or anything related to him in anyway, ATIonion got banned for not kissing dans arse and for publicly critisising him, i have been thretened by him on my old account many times for the same things, trust me if u want your account just agree with him on all things otherwise he will perma bann you.

Congrats on lying/spreading false info.

Fact: ATIonion is not banned, and no one will be banned/infracted for posting in this thread. (Unless they are excessively cussing/spamming etc.)

u read the thred onmy forums and didnt catch the fact he told everybody who he was and full info about why he was banned?


its a warrning because dan will bann people if he feels that they are critisising him in anyway.

I just trust the mods to do their jobs. It's not my responsibility or position so I don't get a say in matters - and that's fair enough. It doesn't matter if mods make a mistake every so often or get temperamental - they're only human ....I think

wazzy i know there was more, but dan was being his typical prick self thretening people for critisising him, hes done the same to me, and many others, and it gets old.

dan needs to learn to accept critisisim like a real man and not like a spoiled petulant child, hes the main reasion i dont post here anymore, i got tired of him editing or deleting posts i made and pming threts to me for saying anything that critisised him or dissagred with his view of reality.

and onion never denied he shot back at dan, and icant blame him, if u had ever been in our possiition with dan u would know how he is, hes rude, thretening, mean, and just a pure prick.........
