HD 2400 and HD 2600 pricing revealed

If we are talking about hardware prices, euro is equal to dollar. I'd bet newegg will sell HD2600Xt GDDR4 under 200$, because MSRP is 199$.

Theres no way AMD/ATi will be able to successfully sell this card @ a MSRP of $199. By the time they hit the retail market, or soon after, you'll be able to start to find 8800GTS's for around the low 200s USD! Thats assuming that the HD2600XT isn't able to compete with a stock 8800GTS, performance wise.

GDDR4 is not a good IC to use for lower end video cards. The latency is to high for it. GDDR4 is a proven OC'ing IC. However, at standard clocks (1000 and lower) you just loss performance IMO. GDDR3 is better at lower clocks. Think about it for a minute the 8800 series is an outstanding line of video cards only using GDDR3. I read that GDDR5 is going to bring the GDDR3 performance with the GDDR4 over clock ability. But we have to wait and see.

I get a feeling we have had this discussion before I am surprised you still honestly beleive that the top end 2600XT with GDDR4 is going to retail for $200, lets wait and see when they hit the US! I Just dont beleive everything speculative you and I have read over past months on any of these cards, it is not unusal for companies like ATi/AMD and Nvidia to leak such garbage through distributors and the IT media to try and stop the consumer from buying existing products from a competitor by waiting for the release of their hardware at a perceived better price/performance ratio.....OR NOT as the case may be.

I may be wrong of course, but I would guess that $240-$260 would sound about right.

If you are guessing in USD, I'm guessing you are wrong. Who is going to buy an HD 2600XT, GDDR4 or not, when they can get an 8800GTS for that price and probably less. You must be assuming that AMD/ATI haven't a clue about whats going on in the market atm if they're going to be selling any HD 2600 above $200, I don't care if it's a special 2600 XTX Super OC whatever model...

But just as you said above, once again I could be wrong because it's all pure speculation at this point as the HD 2400 and 2600 series isn't due to be released for another couple weeks yet.

Not sure I have been fortunate enuff to have an 8800GTS on the market and available to buy for $200 but TBH thats has little bearing at todays 8800GTS prices.....look at the price of the most expensive 8600GTS's. (Newegg has a 8800GTS for $279.99 ignoring rebate, $259.99 if you dont) No I am not assuming that ATi have not got a clue but I'll share what I am basing my assumptions on, in the 2600 range alone there will be a minimum of 5, probably 6 cards eventually, I say that based on everything I have read, not initially of course, now simple math.....if the top of the range is to be under $200, now if all there is, is a mere $20 between each model in the range that would make:

Now I happen to beleve that in fact $30 between cards is more realistic, think about the difference between 512MB and 256MB prices, GDDR4 to GDDR3 etc etc. if that was the case then we would be looking at:

AGP 256MB GDDR3 ???

As I understand there will be an AGP version, maybe not at launch.

Now they are saving money in some area's, although again I have read conflicting stories, some have said there is no hardware crossfire support as they are going for the cheaper less layered PCB so you only get the software performance, not sure what that relates to, read different reviews, get different answers, noone really know until a Bug free DX10 game is released and there is decent driver/software support to test in software crossfire available, some say as much as 20% reduction in performance? I am not sure.

I suppose my point is, I may be wrong(I did say that, you say I AM WRONG, thats pretty confident stuff, I like that ), unless ATI have a couple of cards up their sleeve that are better performers than the 2600XT 512MB GDDR4 (Remember I said I did not think the TOP card would be under $200, not their 3rd from top) that will come out the following month and go above $200 or the £199 card is actually perhaps just a 256MB, I do not quite see the maths, or of course the performance against the competition is pretty poor so they have to near give away the things, if I am wrong and the top of the range card has 512MB GDDR4 and is below $200 then I will be to you beleivers.

Welp, a few of you may know that the HD2400PRO has been available @ newegg.com for a little while now. Today, Newegg has listed several other HD2400 and HD2600 video cards for sale! As I write this, the HD2600XT from Sapphire tops the lot out at $150 USD which is about the same price point a non built by ATI X1650XT debuted at. I mentioned the X1650XT because it's been shown to be on par or sometimes better than the HD2600XT in DX 9 benchmarks and seems logical that the HD2600XT is the next generation direct replacement of the X1650XT.

I sure hope they plan on dropping prices soon and the current price is just to soak up as much profit as possible from people too anxious and impatient to wait. From all the benchmarks to date, at $150 USD the HD2600XT doesn't stack up well against the 8600GT which can be had for around $100 USD and it's even possible to score a 8600GTS (with MIR) for as much as the 2600XT!
