Looks like only really worth using Cats 7.6 for the 29HD. I'll stick with 7.5s this month.

Its only natural that AMD/ATi will drop mostly if not entirely the support for previous gen GPUs....They wanna make the X2900XT users happy

8800GTX is OWNED
With 7.5 cats 29XT was already on par with 88GTX, now 29XT is even faster, not to mention ATI Tool, that allows to change voltage via software, and that blows out GTS and GTX.

LOL...Another ATI FANBOY....Its funny how people think that driver optimisations can compensate for the loss in hardware architecture

It's funny how nVidia fanboys think there's a loss in hardware. Wait for full blown DX10 before you make your judgments and do your trolling.

EDIT: Back on topic- has IQ improved for any of the 2900 owners out there? Seems like it to me, but I'm not sure. Could just be the placebo effect kicking in. lol

By the Time we DO get DX10 games BOTH companies will have launched new GPUs so for now we are sticking to the DX9 version of the cards...
( Unless 4 Dx10 games that we have now and 2 more coming are the majority of games )

No, they're not the majority, but if I was only concerned about DX9 performance, I wouldn't have bought a DX10 card.

And how do you know when either company is launching new hardware?

Nvidias Timetable puts the next card ( Dunno if its gonna be based on a new GPU ) near the end of the year and i dont think ATI will stand and wait for long....They will release one a few months after like with the 8800-X2900 series.

And Most of us got the 8800-X2900 mostly for 1 game in mind and that is crysis....The rest got them for future use....In here however most of us change cards twice a year so....

Well so far you have a card that has been proven to have worse IQ than the 8 month old 8800 series and has some FPS over the 8800GTS....Where did you see it beats the GTX in most games i dont know.....

Hellas .. this is a post on the released ATI drivers... one or two comments would suit, you're continued comments only makes you look like you're trolling... which serves no purpose here... move along please

Kasparz ... it's post like yours that start a flamewar... try not to agitate people in the future ...

I'm an ATi fanboy and proud.

However, what's the point in upgrading drivers, they never make improvements for my card...

ever.

From what i see the 7.6 release log only makes reference to dark messiah and HL2 episode 1......And others say they see FPS increase and better IQ :P

Instead of trolling you could read review.

Because its GENERAL improvements. There is 5% improvements in almost all games and benchmarks, and they don't need to write all 143543732783657325 games in list, just few ones that had serious performance issues with old drivers.
