[WTB/WTTF] Individual PC Components

We're pretty much good to go!
Last things I need that I'd prefer to buy used (but am buying soon) are:

-Biostar tforce550 motherboard
-SATA DVD burner
-80 GB SATA 3.0GB/s HDD
-vga cooler compatible with X1650XT or other nifty vga cooler such as a pci one!

Heya Nathan!

Lets see if I can help you with your AM2 setup. Currently I have these items on hand...

CPU :
I have a nice AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ (65W) Windsor 2.0GHz Socket AM2 Processor Model ADO3800CZBOX. This is the low power model that came out just before the Brisbane cores. I OC'ed this to 2.6GHz using the automatic overclocking engine within the BIOSTAR TFORCE 6100 motherboard for a short while but never bothered to try and do a manual OC to get more out of it. It'll definitely do up to 2.6GHz guaranteed and most likely quite a bit more!

COOLING :
ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 64 Pro 92mm AM2 CPU Cooler - New in retail box

MEMORY :
1x Crucial Ballistix 512MB DDR2-800 PC2-6400 240-pin Gaming Memory BL6464AA804 &
1x Crucial Ballistix 1GB DDR2-800 PC2-6400 240-pin Gaming Memory BL12864AA804

HARD DRIVE :
Hitachi DeckStar 80GB 7200RPM SATA2 HDD

I'm also thinking about selling my trusty Sapphire X1650XT GDDR3 256MB PCIE video card if you are interested. Stock speed is 600Mhz Core & 700Mhz memory and it will OC to 650Mhz core & 740Mhz memory on it's stock single slot cooling. Was able to get a 3DMark06 score of 3500ish with most of the components listed above.

I'll probably let everything go in a nice bundle deal and I'll throw in that 800Mhz Pentium 3 CPU that you were interested in as well.

If you need a SATA burner, consider a Rosewill IDE to SATA bridge chip. They are transparent to software, and don't slow your drives at all. I have two in my system, and they work great.

hm I didn't know they made those but even still I'd have the IDE cable cluttering the case and the price saving would be a dollar or two if that!
I'm really attempting to make this build a beaut and I think I'm well on my way I can't wait to show you guys when I get her up and running! I'm getting a modular PSU and everything

OK, what are the remaining parts that you need? I think you mentioned a modular PSU, a SATA based DVD burner and a good aftermarket cooler for the video card, correct?

As far as the cooler and sata burner goes, I think you are probably going to have to bite the bullet, so to speak, and get them new someplace. Most folks still use IDE burners and even if they didn't, they haven't been around long enough where folks would have a spare sitting around to be able to offer. Kinda the same situation with the vga cooler for the X1650XT. The one drawback to this card is that it has a slightly different mounting layout versus other ATI cards so quite a few coolers designed for the X1800/X1900 will not work. You have to almost buy a specialized cooler just for the X1650XT video card or look for a good aftermarket cooler that has a large multi-purpose role and some of these can get a little expensive. Trust me with this, I had two different ATI silencers, a VGA silencer, two different heatpipe coolers and several smaller copper based HSFs, none of which were able to mount the X1650XT.

Anyhow, a little update for you while I'm at it. I went ahead and did some cleaning and maintenance on the video card today. I removed the cooler, cleaned off the original factory thermal paste crap with Arctic Silver's Thermal Compound remover kit and added a fresh coat of Arctic Silver 5. That should tide you over until you get yourself a good aftermarket cooler.

as for the the burner yeah I'm just getting one at newegg sony nec free shipping for like $32
as for the cooler I wanted to test it out first and see how it works, then I was thinking maybe a pci slot cooler or something, I'm going to have massive airflow as it is so I may not even need something new
oh and is the hard drive formatted or what condition is it in?
