Club 3D 8600 GT OVERCLOCKED 512MB - World's Best 8600GT
Club 3D introduced today a new graphic card out of the GeForce 8 series, a graphic card which according to Club 3D surpasses all standard "overclocked" and "superclocked" special versions you have seen before. The Club 3D 8600GT Overclocked (CGNX-G862DD) is based on NVIDIA G84 chipset, delivering unique 1600MHz 512MB GDDR3 memory and a GPU speed of 620MHz. This is the first card to market with such high clock speeds and 512MB of GDDR3 graphic memory. The Club 3D 8600GT Overclocked Edition is also using a special heavy duty low noise cooler to guarantee low temperatures and ensure rock solid operation. Link to the PDF datasheet.

Why do they even bother OC'ing the low end cards? Whats next, an uber'cloced 8500 that can keep up with a 8600 GT? Like any of us here would want one of these 8600 GT's as a gaming card. I imagine we all want more then 30 frames with Crysis and the other upcoming DX10 games. Sure a 8500/8600 might be affordable, but as soon as the slide show starts it would seem like a rip off. Just my opinion.

Ditto. The few pure DX10 benchmarks I've seen show a 85 and 86 Series slowing to a literal crawl - about 12FPS. A 2600XT from ATi doesnt do much better either, about 14FPS. Overall its just more proof backing up what I been yelling about for a long time, current "DX10" midrange hardware sucks, its sub-par no question.

Yeah I feel the same way you guys do. I dont care what the card is or isnt. For roughly $200, I should be able to have an enjoyable experience with relatively great eye candy enabled @ 30 FPS avg. at least.

Im not a huge fan of anything lower than a 256 bit ring bus. End of story. Crippling the damn card to the point of making it affordable isnt going to win any fans. If nothing else, its gonna piss them off. The fudging (meant that!) gpu companies need to listen up and stop over charging for their crap!!!

I can't really complain about my 8600GTS, but I'm sure that as soon as I upgrade to Vista and also have to buy DX10 games I'll be looking for a high-end card, the best my sorry finances could permit...
No one in their right senses would buy an oc'd 8600GT if they have for example an 8800GTX. Edit: Though we shouldn't be comparing the 8600GT to the 'better' cards. The OP's title doesn't say it's the best card, it says it's the 'world's best 8600GT' (which is quite obvious lol that it's better than the other 8600GT...) |

this is a good attempt at a midrange card but its like i keep saying these 8 series nvidia and hd series AMD card's are a sidestep rather than an upgrade.
