Call of Juarez DX10 demo doesn't run w/o BSODs on the 8800, & it artifacts on the 2900 @ 825/1050, so i have to lower the core speed to around 780.
Oddly enough, no other games have any problems with the HD 2900 XT @ 825/1050.

nice thread man, I like it simple like that so I can read it quickly. The 8800 still has more balls I reckon but the 2900 is about 300 bucks cheaper in Aussie...

I know which one I would choose.

I agree, good work. Seems like the 2900 doesn't keep up at the higher resolutions...oh well

ehh waiting for newer drivers, but considering this is almost as cheap as a 8800 gts 640 mb, it looks like the 2900 1gb is alot more worth it than a 2900 512 mb, but it's still runs hot and is an energy hot

No 8-pin installed, and he didn't do a fresh install between cards.

But

It gives a pretty good idea on where it's at performance wise in vista.

those are the bc09s from what I've been told.
No one has posted that they have bc06 yet.

The 1gb X2900XT is 300 more in Australia than the 8800GTX ? Its 90euros cheaper than the GTX in Greece...
In any case i think we all knew who the winner would be so no surprise comes from these benchmarks although i have to say they are quite thorough
Bravo ZOAIB !

PS : I just saw you have the X2900XT overclocked pretty much but the GTX is almost at stock speeds...Why ? You could push the GTX at 620-650 without artifacts and with the stock cooler and no vcore increase...Imagine the Margins we would get then.....If AMD/ATI dont shape up quick we will need to spend 600$ on cards :P

i have to thank anadtech members to help me out to get this bench together for a overall perspective ............ but to be honest if i were to run vista on my pc right now i wud go with radeon , since it handles the vista frame real well and more stable than nvidia at this moment , also since i only paid 480 bucks for the 1gb i consider it well placed in the price/perfomrance range ........... although i have to be honest i am currently selling my hd 2900 xt on ebay cause they are out of stock in USA at the moment and couple of sites who still have them are selling them at ridiculous prices , i can prolly get 550 bucks from ebay for it , and then ill add another 100 bucks and just get the Damn Ultra , and wait for drivers to get fixed and then get vista to run permanently on my pc ............. so fingers crossed for my endeavor lol.

the other factor people have to remember is ATi/AMD never said that the hd 2900 xt to be their high end card , it plays mid range in league of the GTS , the 1gb version is not official release by ATI/AMD , this was an option given to the partners if they wanted to do this , so sapphire and diamond did it , even so if this is just a mid range card and its scratching and fighting against the GTX/Ultra , that is quite impressive IMHO ......... I have been juggling b/e ati and nvidia forever n ever , and thats the fun thing about them one gets a better card prices go down and u get your moneys worth , i dont understand why people take it so personal when it comes to nvidia and Ati , if we did not have competition we wud be extortionized by just one company in a monopoly , just remember ATi has not released the XTX version of this card yet , and if the mid range is playing so close to the big guys , who knows what will happen , also even ATi released these cards so late , but there catalyst works amazingly good for such a short time to be so much MORE stable than Nvidia.

i weigh out the goods n bads , not if its ATi or NVIDIA .....................

This card can only go up against the GTX ( And lose ) due to the 232mb of ram it has MORE than the GTX....With 768 ram we would have even lower numbers in high resolutions.
And i hope that ATI gets something faster but i doubt it since the difference between that and the X2900XT cant be more than 20-30% and the 8900 ( or 9xxx ) is only 3-4 months away so when will they launch it ? Not to mention we have no rumors for a better ATI card.

Very nice benches. Nice to see the 2900 keeps its own. Also must remember that ATI said they gave up some dx9 performance for dx10 performance.

Doesnt do really well in DX10 either....Still looses from the GTX and even the GTS in some DX10 games.
