From what I heard, STALKER has a very short campaign life. Anything from the Half Life series will keep you occupied for a while
. As well as the HL2 mods...I recommend Red Orchestra, it's one of the most realistic WW2 FPS'...ever.

Yeah, Red Orchestra is terrific, wait till you get shot (in the game) in the leg/arm. It's so realistic, if you get shot in the leg, you start limping, and if you get shot in the arm, you can't use that arm. Now that's realism

ShadowRun kicks enormous amounts of ass, but you'll need to get a certain crack to have it run on xp.

Don't forget to add Rainbow Six : Vegas to your list! Multiplayer on the PC side is something you may want to avoid but the single player experience is just fantastic! The graphics are top notch, some of the best I've seen to date and if you got a nice soundsystem, the firefights will just make you cream in your pants!

I second the Vegas recommendation; and ya give online a whirl too if you want. It could be better, could be entirely worse. Some of us still play, we'll set you up a home server to come to
![]() Stalker isn't as short as you may think when looking at overall game hour completion time. There's many things to go and do, like an MMO or RPG game, to increase the longevity. It's got great ambience sound, and is creepy, it's as if you know something's not right, all the time, minus the rebels and gangs trying to kill you, and the Russian government raining hellfire down on you with rogue soldiers. Other than that, you can take a nice stroll through the weeds at your convenience. AvP2 is a classic, still strikes the most fear into me out of any game. FarCry has more value I think than FEAR in terms of SP. I couldn't see how anyone would say FEAR was more enjoyable than FarCry, single or multi. Zekrahminator quote: "Yeah, Red Orchestra is terrific, wait till you get shot (in the game) in the leg/arm. It's so realistic, if you get shot in the leg, you start limping, and if you get shot in the arm, you can't use that arm. Now that's realism ." /end I don't understand, well I do actually...why more games, especially FPS do not involve a mixture of a fatigue/injury mechanics system. Obviously they do not because players would complain how it hinders them and is too 'hard.' ;rolls eyes; FPS as far back as Rainbow 6 and Rogue Spear implimented such features. So while it's nothing new, it's definatley a nice touch by the developer and an example of some of the features you'd want to look out for in making your decision. Fortunatley, most of these games are fairly cheap now, especially on the PC. Last edited by newconroer; Jul 18, 2007 at 12:24 PM. |
