3D monitor/Seen it in Action!!!!
http://iz3d.com/products/22_iz3d.html
The monitor is called the 22" iZ3D, and I'm still speechless over it. If you have ever seen the new stile of 3D that they do at IMax theaters then you could imagine what this thing is like in action. You put on these glasses just like what you do for a IMax 3D movie and your ready to go. You can also be setting somewhere else with no issues. It is hard to say what like because it's 3D and you can't really take pics of it. So it's up to people to say what they think about it in my option. It works by plugging in both of your monitor ports; then this software is run to blend the picture together in different ways. You have total control on how the effect will work, and let me just say it's worth every bloody Penney. Which is hard for a person to believe for a 1000USD monitor with low contrast levels, and with a modest Response Time of MS 5. The screen does go into a high resolution of 1680 x 1050 which is a plus. What I'm trying to say is that the effects running on the screen makes up for all of that stuff by FAR. I did however did notice some bugs with it during my quick look, and play with it. It does not work in a 64bit O/s at all. The software hasn't been made, but that should come very soon I would guess. The other thing is if you don't have a HD 2900XT or 8800GTX it's not going to work very well at all. This is mainly because your running a 3D app on both ports. It more or less sets it up as dual monitors running a mirror 3D image, and off setting them a bit. It taxes the video card very hard almost by half. Now they said that running two video cards doesn't work, but knowing me that had to be tried at least once. Plugged two of them in, and just stenched the desktop like it was just going to run dual monitors only. Ran the software and it did work, but the video that comes out that was isn't perfect as almost there was a little bit of lag that wasn't there before. Plus no gain in benchmarks what so ever by doing this. Things I saw in 3D mode 2142 Which worked like a champ!!! 3DMark06 Now this is what 3DMark06 should look like. VERY COOL!!!!! Also if you plug them in backwards in 2D mode. You get a hidden screen that doesn't come up all. But if you view it with the glasses you can see everything. I would have two give it a 9/10 The only reason for not giving it a 10/10 is because that it will not work correctly with two cards. This also puts gamers without system that can't score over 10grand in 06 out the window in 3D gaming land. Last edited by DaMulta; Sep 17, 2007 at 02:48 PM. |

Trust me...If you seen this in person. You would understand why someone would lay down a grand for it.

They have these here
https://edimensional.com/index.php?c...FQUsPAodXjpyxQ I'm not saying that I wouldn't like a pair of them. I'm just saying I thought the cost was about right for this product for what it does. It's new and just came out and with all new things $$$$. If it catches on in a few years it could be in every monitor. |

Hmmm... I'd bet that the passive polarizing glasses/active TFT solution does look better.
I'm at a loss how they did it with a projected picture at an IMax screen, I guess they have a way to project two images at the same time or back to back in two polarized planes. The traditional way of course is the colorized version - two shifted images on the same screen with each having a tint of blue or red. |

Sorry for double post, but I found this (on Wiki of course):
In November 2005, Walt Disney Studio Entertainment released Chicken Little in the new digital 3-D format known as REAL D, utilizing one digital projector alternating clockwise and counterclockwise polarized images at 144 frames per second. Glasses are worn that diffuse each circular polarization for one of the eyes so that a 3-D effect is achieved. The use of circular polarization improves on the older technique of linear polarization in that there is no ghosting or leakage and the viewers can tilt their head without affecting the 3-D effects. Following the successful financial gross of the film, further animated films in 3-D have been announced as in production and to be ready by December 2006 in both the IMAX 3-D film format as well as Digital 3-D. Disney also announced that they hope to have 750 Digital 3-D installations in place for their Spring 2007 3-D release, Meet the Robinsons." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/3-D_film |

I played Quake 4 on one of these at Quakecon. It was very nice, but certainly not worth the grand.
