Junk For Free

OK, I have some sticks of PC-100/133 Desktop RAM I would like to get rid of. Who want's 'em? If you don't mind them being shipped to you via donkey or some other inexpensive way, I'll even pick up the shipping. Here's the rub. I need an older PC case to start my next case mod. The local PC parts shop where I usually get my worthless junk closed it's doors last month. I gotta' tell ya', there's not many PC shops here in New Hampshire..... HELP!!!

Edit - RAM is gone....

There are at least 4 Best Buy stores, in New Hampshire. Just check the dumpsters late at night and you should find all kinds of Freebies.

Hmmm... The closest BB to me is the one in the Mall. I wonder how mall security would react to me digging through their dumpster....... That could make for an interesting story to tell my kids. "Yeah, Daddy's gonna' be home a little late tonight kids. He got pinched picking through Best Buy's dumpster." I don't think the wife would be too enthused either.....

Just do a quick "drive buy" jump out and look real quick. If you see something grab it. I've done it, it only takes seconds. By the time somebody sees you...gone!!

Four sticks and the sizes are as follows - 64MB, 128MB,256MB, and one stick of unknown size, speed or manufacturer... The 128 & the 256 are PC-133. The 64 is PC-100. 184 pin desktop DRAM. What are you going to use it in???

A old old compaq with 64 mb of pc 100 ram now running a like 553 mhz amd something (windows is too slow to run cpu-z). Then there's also my grandparents computer which uses a p3 running at 600 mhz I believe, using...512 or 768 mb of pc100 ram. The amd is my brother's computer and I just want him to be able to use things like word and ie/firefox without the thing constantly paging. Also, may end up turning the compaq into a folding machine as we're looking to replace my grandparent's computer with a newer dual core set up (what it will be really depends on price my parents will pay). 184 pin...that's with two slot things right? (like two breaks in the pins, compared to ddr2/ddr's one break)

Dumpster Diving FTW!!!!! I scored a 1.6GHZ celeron out of my local Compusa. Be cautious of cops and your local laws, as I have had numerous run in's with disgruntled officers wondering just what the HELL I am doing in the dumpster.

You know, I had considered that particular problem. I'll just dress up in a black spandex jumpsuit. That should make me less suspicious looking... Anyone got a pair of night vision goggles I can borrow?

Actually dumpster diving is not against the law(in most states). If you "dress up" in all black or something then you'll just have more explaining to do!! IF somebody says something just say your looking for your Keys (or whatever).

Yeah, it's the city ordinances that you have to watch out for. Most places are fine with it, just the higher dollar and lower dollar places that you have to watch out for.

Um, I was joking about the whole "spandex jump suit" thing. Trust me on this one, NOBODY wants to see me in spandex. On a different note, I like the idea about "looking for my keys"... That's so crazy, it might just work!!

What kind of case do you need? I have a generic beige atx minitower with a complete Pentium III 1GHz system (working) that you can have and tear out the P3 parts if you want as well as a ThermalTake Xaser V midtower ATX case thats completely empty except for a few case fans. You can have either for the cost of shipping but I want to warn you that the ThermalTake case weighs a ton! I think you could back a tank into it and the tank would come out worse for wear...
