I always wanted to know how to change thread titles?

I thought you couldn't?

Hitting edit and changing the title in the dialog box it gives you doesn't work. That only changes the title of the post, not the whole thread. At least that has been my experience.

I think you can change the thread title that way in the first five minutes or so of the thread existing (or maybe that's just in the news posting interface).

I know I have changed a thread title before using that method? Could it have been changed?

I just tried using the edit method on two seperate threads of mine that were older. It didn't have any effect other than changing the title of the initial post; not the thread title.

That may be it. I only ever changed the title after just making the post because of spelling mistakes.

thats is what i had in mind, say you wanted to fix spelling errors or found out you need to say it differently because the responses are not what you were looking for and wanted to fix it yourself.

im not saying you should let us delete posts or anything like like.

You can but theres only a 5min window so you would have to catch the error pretty quickly lol.
But yeah we should be able to edit our post titles whenever we want.

the trouble with the 5 min thing is, for me anyway, im too slow to catch it right away.

sometimes i have 5 or 6 posts from members and then get told "hey did you know you screwed this up"

Closure of a thread should be a moderators decision based only on the fact that a thread has got out of hand or is infringing rules.
