the 3850's are already available in the u.k., powercolours looks quite tempting, unfortunately its only £9 cheaper than a 512 3870

the 1gb 3870 is good new though, lets hope it dosent cost too much extra

1GB frame buffer is completely useless atm. Give it about a year.

good choice i'm just going to sit and wait the 8800 gts 512mb is coming out december 11th and I have two 8800 gt's on the way to sell both cost 207.00 each and should sell for near 300.00 have a offer to buy, a Asus 8800 gtx ultra 500.00, but I think it's a waste or could buy a 2900 xt 1 gb ddr4 for 360 but na. The 8800 gt oced stomps the ultra overclocked imagine a 8800 gts 512mb. Also buy the Accelero s1 and the turbo package they kill the dual orbs cooling or if you have a old Zalman vf900 around it works too the 8800 gt runs super cool and doesn't need much to cool it. The stock cooler sucks big time take it off.

Nope, frame buffer is useful for storing larger \ higher res textures obviously, but in terms of performance theres very, very little to gain, maybe 2-5FPS. Look at some 2900 512 vs 1GB reviews, their the most recent example I can think of showing just how useless the extra frame buffer really is. The only good thing to come out of 1GB cards is it will push prices of 512MB cards way down.

it's almost double the Cf as the turbo pack and fit perfect. I tested both and the 120 mm fan cools the memory much better. I was thinking the turbow pack would cool more evenly but it doesn't due to the shear volume of the air the 120 mm puts out and it's dead silent.

Well I got loads to pick from in my own fan stock....what U think?...........

1. the 90mm AC fan that comes with the freezer 7pro heatsink.
2. Zalman low noise 2500rpm 92mm fan
3. Scythe Infinity 120mm stock quiet fan

Aint gonna buy anymore! choose one from that, does a standard 120mm fit easily? If not its between the 2 90's, I would prob go for the Zalman as the AC freezer fan sticks out a fair bit with the rubber frame.....what you think?

get the one I showed because of the way it fits the zip ties fit perfect on the edges regular 120's don't fit right and this fan cost about 5 dollars. I moved them to the left straight over the cpu later and cleaned it up a bit, but this was the only photo I took. Also you will need a few extra heatsinks for the mosfits and some thermal adhesive. I covered the mosfits later after this picture was taken

in this photo you can see how they covered the mosfits in the rear of the card.

Nice thanks, I reckon I could get the Scythe 120mm on there with a small screw in each of the fans corner holes just lightly slipped in between the fins of the heatsink. I have some spare ramsinks I can use for the mosfets but I think the cooler comes with ramsinks?
