Kingston HyperX DDR upgrade
I am about to upgrade from 2 512MB Samsung DDR sticks to 2 512MB Kingston HyperX DDR sticks. I would like to use the Samsung in the secondary slots, and the Kingston in the primary slots. I have seen that mixing brands on the same channel is bad, but will it be OK to use different brands on separate channels, and will using the Samsung sticks affect my performance negatively? Oh yeah, the channels are color coded right? It's a 184 pin setup and both brands are PC 3200 @ 2.5V. Yes, I am a newbie to this...

they should be fine tho the hyper x sticks may have lower timings than the sammys which would cause the them to run at reduced performance but not anything really noticeable and 2gigs will make things alot faster regardless of the timings

you could get something much cheaper that would be great since your not overclocking it
such as this crucial value ram for 53$ http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820146577 and the ram u linked to isnt pc3200 its 2700 which is slower than what you have now

So the HyperX 2700 RAM will not out perform my Samsung 3200 RAM even it is HyperX? or is the 2700 completely incompatible? I'm guessing the Crucial will be faster?

I wouldnt buy slower ram...if you own 3200 stay with it or better. The Ballistix are faster , but will deffinately be able to have the latencies changed to play well with other RAM already in the system!

I have a set of the tracers for sale, $50 plus ship.
By they way rick, it's kind of hard to post on a computer running so called blown ram. The sticks work flawless, and will do just about any timing/speed combination you wish. And you save $20. PM me if interested. |

Well I made a mistake, and confirmed the 2700 order(didn't even look, too nervous), I'll void that order the Crucial. Thanks again.
