Get Windows Vista for free!

Quote:
Snag Vista Ultimate for free, in exchange for your privacy

Posted Dec 11th 2007 10:23AM by Paul Miller

Microsoft's been keeping its record pretty clean of late, but we suppose it couldn't end the year without a parting shot meant to cheese off the ultra-private, Microsoft-eats-children types. The company's latest diabolical plan involves giving away free copies of Windows Vista Ultimate, Office Ultimate '07, Money Plus Premium, Encarta Premium or Streets and Trips -- scary, we know. All you need to do is fill out a few surveys now and then, and download a little app that lets Microsoft watch your every move for three months. If you can manage to be a good little pod person for that long, you get a free copy of whatever software title you selected in the mail. But really, can you put a price on dignity? Exactly, you can't, so sign us up!

Does the spyware come with the copy of Vista? Meaning can you do as you said and have the spyware on one computer and a clean legal copy of Vista on another?

I think you got it a bit backwards, spyware comes free with Vista and is a "product feature"

Will I be able to see what data I'm sharing with you?
Unfortunately, you will not be able to look at your specific data. We designed the Windows Feedback Program software specifically to avoid any interference with your work or how your computer functions. To do that, the data you are sharing is stored in a binary format (zeros and ones) rather than in text format. Storing the data in binary format makes it very small and easy to share with us, but difficult for you to translate and interpret.
wtf? lol Straight from the faq

Actually, the program is still going... However, if you signed up on dec 11th after 2PM PST (5PM EST, 10PM GMT) you will not get free software. You will exchange your privacy for the warm feeling in your heart for helping Microsoft out.

If you send an email to the WFP email address, you'll get an autoreply with an FAQ. The first question is the free goodies part.

Wow, this is something new... Go figure... I REALLY don't want to know what MS is looking for.
