I think Intel went overkill with their last production batch of the Q6600 (G0) which is why this wait. Methinks Intel doesn't want to cannibalise the Kentsfield parts that are in good stocks now. They don't want another "Conroe 1333 vs Conroe 1066" here.
oh well...mine's a rather old B3. I can keep it with me till Q1 2009. If I want to give it a little kick, Tatty's around. |

Now I'm truly glad I bought my Q6600. An extra 300Mhz isn't worth the wait.

Intel holding back newer products because of lack of competition? Say it ain't so!
This is just a taste of things to come if AMD goes belly-up.

We should be getting good news from Intel anytime after its current stock of quad-core chips runs dry.

There's a pretty standard pace that the industry has moved at for the past five years, Intel decided to sprint and flex their massive bulk, and sure enough found out that yes, they certainly COULD bury the competition on a whim. I'd consider this move just a step back in line with the rest of their "competitors". Until AMD can
a bigger, better, and faster architecture, Intel running at full speed is just going to be more lawsuits than they want. No, there is not a free market in America. We have monopoly laws, and if Intel kept rolling along at this path, the hammer would fall on em.It sucks for the consumer, knowing that the tech is available, tested, and ready. Maybe if AMD wasn't around at all Intel wouldn't have a reason to slow down, and let them catch up. Or maybe they wouldn't have a reason to speed up in the first place. Pick your poison, a lame competitor occasionally prodding the Intel behemoth into pace, or an Intel behemoth falling asleep for a few years at a time?

People this si what happens when the competition becomes one sided , as AMD poses no threat to intel in the near future intel has no desire to give its customers better prices or availibility of new technology that fast ....................

Surprisingly nothing similar with NVidia and ATi. NV is going for the kill.

in all fairness nvidia does not have a complete kill against ATi because their cards are not so behind at this point with the current gen of cards ............... also it is a well known fact crossfire performs better than SLI .............. and i also can confirm that with my personal experience , and crossire is not exclusive to a particular chipset , unlike nvidia has saved theirs for exclusive nforce mobos ........................... with the nex x48 and x38 chipsets , which most ppl will go for , ati is the only choice for dual graphics setup.

In every segment, NV offers the best value for money. That is price : performance ratio. Multi-GPU setups constitute to a minority, be it SLI or CFX. Most mainstream buyers would spend on a single good card than two ok cards. 2x cards doesn't imply double performance, be it SLI or CFX, again. If I have an Intel chipset, I'd much rather pick up a sweet deal from NV, the 8800 GT or G92-8800 GTS. Unlike Intel, which believes that as long as it rules the roost it could ask whatever price it wants (like $1300 for a YF), NV took a different approach after G92. Both its G92 based products are like delicious pieces of candy you can't just put down being a kid. *slurp*. If ATi resorts to aggressive pricing, NV can do it even better. NV is like the Australian cricket team, they don't grow their asses even if they're in a winning position, they sweat it till the end.
Coming back to Intel and AMD, unless AMD takes advantage of this period and develops aspirational value with the buyer (an art which NV is beginning to master), it's going to be AMDoomed. |

WTF!!! an Indian!!!
![]() TBH ATi is doing better with the DX10. You get a HD2600 XT 512M (made by Diamond, Sapphire, HIS) for Rs. 3500. HD3850 for Rs. 5800. |

no your not laughing your crying
![]() ![]() But yeah this is a sad day for AMD. I may support Intel in the long haul (dont shoot me please) I still want AMD to give competition so that I can actually see improved prices for procs come this Spring. I personally really havent decided when I want to build my desktop computer now. I may wait till August 2008 before building it so that I can actually get a good deal on NV cards if the supposed new geforce series does come out this Spring.

![]() Maybe you should buy my excellent E6850 @ 4.43Gig as an Interim until March/Apr time seeing as my quad is sat here on the desk. That will take you to 490 odd FSB on a 9 multi and well beyond 500 on an 8.
