OMG! 2x1GB OCZ DDR2 800 $24.99 w/FREE shipping.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820227030

I just pulled the trigger on 2 sets. It isn't DDR2 1066, but hey, 4 Gigz for $50 is awsome!

After further inspection I see OCZ site says "Optimized for Intel 955" Guess it says it on Newegg also.
Damn I hope this works on AMD/ATi boards.
Please give me some comforting words here.

I think that "Optimized for Intel 955" is a bunch of nonsense. Does it say anything to back this up? I couldn't see any way for it not to work well with AMD boards. That's a good deal, even if it doesn't clock really high.

That is extremely tempting. It is always nice to have some spare RAM laying around, and this fits the bill. I'm sure it will work in any DDR2 motherboard that can handle DDR2-800.

Maybe why its so cheap....OCZ says that ram is EOL Only reason this might matter is if you get dead stix that need to be RMA'd

Ok, after some research, it seems that this Ram has trouble on specific boards with older bios. This includes 965 chipsets, and one AM2 board, the ASUS M2N-SLI. I couldn't find anything regarding problems with this RAM on 939 boards.

Thats because DDR goes on a 939 not DDR2

So what happens if you get dead stix/they die a few months later. No RMA, or do they send you something comparable?

I just called the OCZ office in California. I asked them about lifetime warranty on a EOL product, specifically this memory. They said all is good, the warranty is still good but of course if a replacement was needed it would be with a comparable product if the match was no longer available. I fell better now.

Now I guess I better pick out a AM2, but preferably a AM2+ mobo. and cpu.

Ha, look at all the 1-star reviews that kit's gotten, I'd miss it and get a G.Skill/Crucial/Corsair/GEIL/Mushkin kit.

I just bought an ASUS M3A32-MVP AM2+ board, I'll let you know how it performs if you want to know?

I like cheap! I couldn't pass up 4Gigs for $50. (I have 32 & 64bit Vista HP waiting to be installed)

@ AphexDreamer, Cool I see you are currently running this memory on a AM2 board. Sounds promising! Yes please, let me know how the combo works for you. I am actually thinking of a AM2 Black on the ASUS AM3 770 board.

Well remember here also...
2.0 volts, 5-5-5-10....

People are claiming issues with it on NON 955 /975 chipsets. May be a SPD issue...
