GECUBE Launches AGP HD 3850

GECUBE today announced the best ever performance levels for systems using the industry standard AGP bus, an exciting new series of Radeon HD3850 utilizing 256-bit 512MB GDDR3 memory, combining the latest graphics architectures with Unified Shader support for Shader Model 4.0 and the forthcoming DirectX 10.1, high performance and exceptional value for your money.

The HD3850 512MB GDDR3 AGP architecture shares the 320 stream processors and 512-bit internal ring bus memory controller of the previous high-end GECUBE HD 2900 models together with multiple rendering units and a programmable tessellation unit to deliver outstanding graphics performance. Now manufactured in a new 55nm process technology, the GPU in the HD 3850 series delivers this performance with lower power consumption and at lower cost than previous generations. A new feature known as ATI PowerPlay actively reduces power consumption depending on loading.

The HD3850 AGP series incorporate the latest ATI Avivo HD Technology for enhanced Video display and feature a built in UVD (Unified Video decoder) for the hardware accelerated decoding of Blu-ray and HD DVD content for both VC-1 and H.264 codecs, considerably reducing CPU loading, deliver a better quality home theatre viewing experience than most consumer systems.

GECUBE HD3850 graphics cards are Microsoft Windows Vista Premium certified and supported by the ATI Catalyst suite of software, ensuring customers have ongoing access to software updates for performance, stability and added features. Support for DirectX 10.1 provides developers with access to enhanced programming techniques and new lighting effects.

The GECUBE HD3850 512MB GDDR3 AGP card will enable users to get the most out of their gaming experiences and is DX10.1 ready bringing cost effective high performance graphics to the mainstream and enthusiast markets.

Didn't the HD2900 have a 1024 bit internal ring bus memory controller which was 512bit external (ie the 512bit memory interface)?

If it's longer & taller than the X1950 Pro then I highly doubt it'd fit in any of the G series. I'm hoping it won't be taller, longer I could deal with.

Wow -- I've heard. The GECUBE 512 MB HD 3850 (with their dual-slot cooler) matches a 3870 in most benches I've seen. It's a damn good card, apparently -- a little pricier than a stock 3850, but still not bad (around $200).

If it helps at all my HD 3870 is EXACTLY the same size as the x1950 that it replaced

Id want to know if it comes with a suitable vista driver to work on agp systems using nForce 2/3 , via, uli chipsets in order to make use of its dx10 functions else its probably cheaper to get 1950pro instead. currently my x800 (with nf2 chipset) doesnt work with any driver other than cat 7.7 (which wont support this new card). 7.12 almost works in xp but gl driver doesnt work so have to use 7.7 in xp too.

might be useful to get the older machine upto speed with this card so that its still a useful box for lan games.

I've said the exact samething in either the Sapphire or PowerColour thread relating to their AGP cards. I read somewhere that Sapphire's 3850 will be on a 512bit bus. Hard to believe, but freakin' awesome if it is true. I'll look for that now...

UPDATE: Wait, I'm wrong, bloody memory of mine. It was Hexus.net that said it'd have a 512MB frame buffer, not memory bus. Wanky ball piss.

If y'interested here was the news article.

i wouldnt buy from Gecube, when you get a Defective Card they want to to deal with the Retailer that you bought the card from, Honestly id rather deal with the maker of the board for RMAs than the retailer that sold me the board

Anyone know whether HIS is also going to release such card with their popular exhaust cooler? I would buy HIS in that case.
