Microsoft Could be Planning Bid for Logitech

Rumours are flying around the internet that Microsoft could be planning a takeover bid for computer peripherals firm Logitech. Apparently Microsoft will offer 48 francs per share, compared to the current value of 39.46 francs, giving Logitech a value of around 10 billion francs (or roughly $9 billion US). Amid this speculation, share prices have risen over 12% from 34.80 francs on Wednesday to their current value, although many analysts are still sceptical of any takeover, with Michael Foeth from Vontobel bank saying:

This could be something but I don't think it will happen. I felt kinda suspicious tho when they did the Habu mouse, thought they gonna buy Razer out...

Hmm...I don't know whether to be overjoyed...or horrified.

The software will probably improve with MS help...but the product design might suffer...hmm...

if microsoft buy out logitech im goiung to dump both my wireless keyboards, my G7 gaming mouse & my Extreme 3D pro joystick into the nearest river to me.

thats the worst thing that could EVER happen to logitech.

logitech are a cool bunch of muva's that make some of the best day to day & also gaming related peripherals ever - I will not tolerate M.S using logitech to wipe their arses.

I have to agree with ya My g5 mouse and my v20 notebook speakers are just ace unfortuently if ms gets a hold of Logitech there products will go down hill.

I really don't think Logitech can be bought out... look at the years of service... if M$ would buy anything, then I think they would want to buy a company that needs help, and is in some way starting up...IMO

I agree with ya Storm. The only reason I can imagine MS would buy Logitech is if they had some corporate intelligence that Logitech has something up their sleeves in the future (alone or partnered).

I always thought Bill looked a little "mousey".

Not sure this is smart. I like Logitechs stuff, and MS makes some terrific KBs and standalone mice (that Halbu or whatever is cool, but Razer built that to be honest).
