Quick question on changing monitors

I'm going from 19" to 24". Should I uninstall the old monitor from device manager as well as the ATI drivers, then reinstall, or is it all plug and play?

Thx

i would uninstall the monitor driver just to be safe and avoid conflicts but unless you change video cards there is no reason to mess with the ati driver. video drivers only control the video card not the monitor.

It would seem to me that the smartest and safest way to go would be to uninstall, then plug 'N play. Although, I would say that you would probably be fine just pluging in the new monitor.

Just plug it in, there's no problem. It's like plugging in an ATi with Nvidia drivers still installed. No trouble, since the Nvidia drivers won't identify the ATi as compatible, and will not load. Same with the monitor drivers.
Hell, if you don't install monitor drivers at all, you probably won't miss out on anything, unless the monitors use unusual resolutions.

not really... but it would be perfect if you would uninstall any color profile that came with the 19" monitor, first...

Well, to be honest, I haven't decided what I will do with the 19". I could sell it, but alot of hassle and shipping will be quite expensive (especially to the US using tracking), so I will probably keep it. My Computer is on top of my desk (I like the inside view at eye level) so I don't think I will have the space to put it all on top, but I'll see how big the dell is when it gets here.

Havent decided yet. According to the tracking, the 24" should be delivered today (should be there when I get home from work) I'm getting excited, but nervous also (ghosting issues on the 24" that I've heard about)
