After I installed IE7 yesterday, I got taken to this page:



And I started downloading the third item at the bottom.

My download got stopped after some time:

Something tells me that's because of a redirected host more than MS having the malware on the site. Immunise the system with SpyBot S&D, it also blocks certain malicious redirected hosts.

yeah, you can choose to be stupid and use IE or you can choose to get a real W3C complyant browser like opera of FF.

as to this, avast has given me plenty of faulse positives......so i stoped using it

most people are moron to, they will just use whatever ms/apple hand them and not consider that there are better choices that are 100% free.

you can choose to use IE and have some pages broken beyond use because MS dosnt feel supporting PROPER W3C specs/standreds is a good idea, i mean they really just want everybody to code their sites to work around IE's buggs and support IE's querty way of rendering........

im no ms hater, but i do hate IE for all its improvements over the years MS still cant pass the acid2 test........yet you can get versions of FF and OPERA that do as wella s browsers fro other OS's like safari and such.

anybody who hangs onto IE with a death grip because its what ms gave them and they are use to it deserves to have problems!!!!

been using IE for more years than I can count here, and considering the vast numbers of shady sites out there that I visit - I have yet to have any system of mine infected with a virus/trojan/worm/adware/spyware or someother form of malware.

I've tried FF, and was very displeased with it - especially the way in which it displays a web page improperly, which I didn't find all that surprising seeing as how 90% of the internet is still coded for IE. Granted CSS is getting everyone away from it, but that's a slow process.

The problem isn't with IE, it isn't with MS - the biggest false truth about IE comes from the uncountable people who use IE that are for the most part tech illiterate and only know how to just press a button to turn the computer on. There are too many people that don't run routine anti-malware scans, and don't ever check for backups for their software, either, and the longer out you let updates get, the more of a chance of contracting some form of internet disease.

If you hate IE, that's your own issue, and gives you no right to consider users of IE to be morons. I hate FF, and the way that it can't properly display webpages coded for IE or how often it timesout on connections, I also can't stand the vast number of FF users out there who are oblivious to the fact that FF can run IE from within itself.

Personally, it's your own right to use FF, Opera, or IE - and considering users of IE to be morons because we don't like the style/layout/use of FF and Opera, or whatever else the reason is quite presumptious of you. Those are the kinds of comments that people have been making all too often around here recently, and that kind of shit needs to just come to an abrupt Error_07 and be done with it.

If that's your opinion of it ChillyMyst, I recommend keeping your opinions to yourself.

i have every right to state my oppenion that people who stubornly stick to only using IE because they cant adapt or because its what MS gave them are moron, just as you have the right to tell me your not a moron for using it.

as to layout, i dont like FF eather, BUT ie7 pretty much COPYED FF just as FF copyed OPERA's layout and fetures.

as to not liking the layout of opera, you can make opera look any way you want, its the most easly costomized browser your ever gonna find, a few clicks and i can change the whole layout of my browser, personaly i put the tabs and url bar at the bottem, because thats how I like it, other people make it look like FF or IE, and there are FULL SKIN and STYLE SHEETS easly downloaded to copy the layout of all the most popular broswers for those who really need the feel of IE or FF to be happy.

as to never getting infected by IE, then u got a good av/fire wall and dont turn it off,, because most of the infected systems i see are due to unpatched older versions of IE(4-5-6) by users who clicked ok on every popup window they saw at every shady site they went to, its insain how stupid some people are......like my father.....the man managed to get 500+ viruses in under 2 weeks because some site told him to dissable his AV and then click this link, he clicked it and a bunch or warrning looking boxes appeared, so he clicked ok on them all, they where browser windows taht downloaded and installed viruses via activeX.

i had to reinstall the system and set it so he couldnt dissable the av for any reasion...........
