newegg (like anyone here in the US really buys from anywhere else )

Purchasing the CPU with the mobo saved me like $30 on the combo - and they already had the cheapest price on each one seperately the two as compared to anywhere else. I wasn't thrilled about going with DDR3, but I couldn't really find any other X38 boards with an expansion slot layout to suit my needs - at least with this one, when I go crossfire with two dual-slot cards, I can drop the wireless 'n' PCI adapter I currently use, and make use of the onboard wireless 'n' capability. Asides, even though DDR3 timings aren't all that great compared to DDR2, they support much higher BUS speeds, which is what I tend to focus on with OCing.

Don't get me wrong, though - I fully intend to attempt to hit 4GHz with a quad, or at least see what the highest stable clock I can achieve is . . . if heat ends up holding me back, I may consider going liquid - we'll see though . . .

10.1/10 - your system beats mine, so how can i rate lower than you rated me?

Cause I think we're actually about equal, when you consider your better peripherals (sound card, 4GB ram, etc.)

looking at it that way, we are quite balanced. you have better performance in FPS (my 3DM isnt that high) while i have more ram on sys + viddie.
i got more ram, you got faster ram
I have a bigger screen, you have a higher res screen... i have high end air, you have... mid/high range?? water
