Corsair Announces 1000W 3-Way SLI Certified Power Supply
Corsair today announced the HX1000W power supply unit (PSU), the world’s first 1000 watt PSU to be certified under the newly-created 3-way NVIDIA SLI Technology Certification Program from NVIDIA Corporation. The Corsair HX1000W will be debuted at the CeBIT 2008 show next week in Hanover, Germany on Corsair’s stand.
![]() The HX1000W is the latest addition to Corsair’s award-winning HX-series of modular power supplies for the gaming and enthusiast community. Featuring a twin-transformer, true dual-rail design, DC-to-DC conversion and high-quality solid state capacitors, the HX1000W delivers the rock-solid performance and stability required for high-end enthusiast gaming systems. Features of the HX1000W include:
With Active Power Factor Correction (PFC) and 80% or more energy efficiency across a wide range of loading conditions, the HX1000W PSU generates minimal heat during operation. In addition, the high quality, thermally-controlled double ball-bearing 140mm fan provides effective cooling and whisper quiet operation. "Having the first 1000 watt power supply that is certified for 3-way NVIDIA SLI Technology is a great honor,” said Jack Peterson, VP Corporate Marketing. “The fact that the HX1000W meets the 3-way NVIDIA SLI Technology specification at a wattage rating that is up to 30% lower than some of our competitors highlights Corsair’s superior engineering expertise and world-class product development efforts,” continued Peterson. “Clearly, this is the ultimate power supply for enthusiasts and demanding customers who want the very best hardware in their gaming rigs.” The Corsair HX1000W power supply unit (CMPSU-1000HX) will be available in late March through Corsair’s authorized distributors, resellers and e-tailers worldwide, priced at $279.99 USD MSRP. Corsair’s power supplies are backed by a 5-year Limited Warranty, complete customer support via telephone, email, forum and TS Xpress troubleshooting guide. A need, NO... a Want, YES. Its not for the other 98%(like me that are happy with a 500watter)
But for the 2% that has to have the top line stuff.....

It does look enormous to me, very long. I've got the 520W version (which is way more than I need) and it's very good. Quiet and cool.

And a great price. Corsair really nailed the PSU market with their highly efficient PSUs. Hell the 520W is able to power a system that needs like 600 to 650W of power. Its longer than the lower wattage psus, but I guess its for all the extras in its innards.

Where did you find that out? I was trying to figure out if this one was built by CWT, or Seasonic. They use both as OEMs. I was guessing Seasonic, because Seasonic makes their other HX psus.

Yup, its a CWT, i remember seeing a preview a while back (though i dont remember where
)It appears the (rest of the) HX series are still the only seasonic ones (not that i'd care though, CWT is still Great quality, i've actually got my eye on the TX750) |

Even though I can't help think that 1KW PSUs are overkill, it's good to know that we can expect the same level of excellence from previous Corsair PSUs in this high-end one.
I'd quite happy buy this if I ever needed it, but as I like to consider myself a 'green-machine' sort of person, I'll stick with the HX620W, or if they release a HX700+ then I'll go for that whilst I lie in wait for my Bloomfield set up.
