Sony Confirms PS3 In-Game Messaging On the Way

Sony Computer Entertainment’s UK boss, Ray Maguire, has confirmed rumours that Sony plans to include in-game messaging in one of its upcoming PS3 firmware updates. Sony initially sparked rumours when it uploaded a “Friends & Messaging” icon onto its website, which commented about using a USB headset or Eye Camera to engage in voice and video messaging. Maguire told MCV:

Maguire also revealed that Sony has managed to sell over one million of the consoles in the UK.

Yea, communication, and multiplayer on the PS3 pretty much sucks. I don't know why they didn't just copy XBL from the beginning - Sony had a year to copy it. Oh well, you get what you pay for, I guess.

As far as home is concerned, it's a cool gimmick, but it absolutely is NOT a reason to spend hundreds of dollars on a console - you do that for the games. If you are having more fun using Home than you are playing FF13, then the PS3 just isn't the console for you.

but i see messages now while in game that a friend has signed on. also, it says when someone has sent me a message while im playing. are you saying i can hit the PS button and then go to the crossbar and down to messages and read it?? im very confused on how this will all work.

Yeah, you be notified that you get a message. At that point, you can read it with a overlay type deal I'm assuming while still being in game.

a lot of people simply hate the ps3 because they spent their money on the xbox360 and now wish they had spent it on the ps3. it's best to avoid those bitter people.

And no not really about me wishing I had a PS3 all in all there was really only 1 game for the PS3 that i wanted for 360 and thats MGS4. I couldnt care less about GTA4 or Devil May Cry or Final Fantasy. Those just arent my type pf games.

I just dont see the 360 as the best console in the damn world, nor the Wii(especially not the Wii,lol) and the PS3...Im tired of people arguing over the consoles if you like the 360 then play it people that own a ps3 dont need to prove anything, the reviews are actually the exact same for every game the 360 has ported to the ps3 lost planet didnt deserve a 5.6 on the ps3....its EXACTLY THE SAME THING ON THE X360.....and I hear a lot people complain about the controllers which REALLY bother the hell out of me, the 360 controller kicks ass I love it, so does the ps3 controller.......but why are people hating on the ps3 controller so much? god sorry I kinda went off topic just console wars are stupid, if you have a 360 let them embrace the failure rates, till then Ill have a console that actually works(PS3 and Wii): Im having a LAN anyone wanna play ps3 or something online? message me and name a game we can play
