TPU Sponsored Project?? You Decided [Benchmarking Rig Record Breaker v1.0 BETA]
Currently I'm making one of the worlds best computer for home use at least.. stupid super computers... ok back to the point I've been thinking about attempting to beat the highest score on 3D Mark 06' of 30600, and make sure everyone knows that TPU memebers and everyone else helped me along the way with:
** Update: I'm attempting to beat the highest scores but maintaining a decent case apperence not out of the box just sitting out on the table with smoking L2N pots ... this is an import detail so be aware of that ***
2 Top Scores Nvidia / ATI: ATI: http://service.futuremark.com/result...eResultType=14 Nvidia: http://service.futuremark.com/result...eResultType=14 Current Staff / Helpers PyroX1040 [Funder / Actually My Machine] Solaris17 [8000 Series Expert] Computer Case x1 Tagan Aplus Black Pearl WCR Edition** Cooling x1 VapoChill LightSpeed (Black / 04-L-1152) [CPU Cooler]* x1 Swiftech MCP655 12v LC 1/2" [Pump]* x3 Danger Den 8800GTX LCB [GPU Block]* CPU x1 Intel Core 2 Duo Extreme Quad QX9650 3.0Ghz [CPU]* Power Supplies x1 Silverstone Strider 1000Watt PSU [Power All But - CPU / Mobo]** x1 Energy Galaxy 1000Watt PSU [Power ONLY CPU + Mobo]* Motherboard x1 3VGA 780i Motherboard 1200Mhz** Memory x2 OCZ SLI-RE 4GB(2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 800 [8GB]* GPU x3 3VGA 8800GTX 666 / 1800** Hard Drive x1 WD Raptor X 150GB 10,000 RPM HDD** x1 WD Raptor X 150GB 10,000 RPM HDD* * = Option / Open to Suggestions ** = Bought Already Budget is not a big issue but I'd prefer to keep it decently priced not extreme parts cost hundreds but I'm open to Ideas... I mainly want to see if I can get the support of the moderators and even W1zzard himself but all I ask is that all of TPU help me in the process with everything I may run into doing this, as listed above. If you really want to help me out let me know I live in Chicago, IL so if you're in the area let me know maybe you could help me out in my workshop ![]() So let me know what you think of it! Regards, PyroX1040

I'm thinking some sort of LN2 or dry ice cooling to OC a 45nm to 5GHz+, I'm not sure if 780i mobos clock as well as X38/P35. Also I've heard that people get crazy score using 2900xt cards due to their 512 bit memory bus.

maybe once ati get their new drivers out try 2 3870x2's but other than that i wish you the best of luck, although those 8800's should kick alot of ass but the 2900 seam to clock higher

I think you should go for 4x 2900XT 1gb's if you can.

you cant do this with the vapochill
you need LN2 to beat(or come close to) K|INGP|N and FUGGER. try getting a more powerfull setup. like... 2x QX9775 (s771 3.2ghz 1600mhz QDR) intel skulltrail motherboard d5400xs enermax galaxy 1kw or pc power and cooling 1kw 4gig's FBDIMMs 800mhz 2x 8800Ultra's with voltmods 2x Dragon F1 LN2 pots (from kingpin) 2x tek-9 LN2 pots (from kingpin) 4x WD raptor X 150gigs or 4x perpendicular drives or 2x SSD's thats WELL over your new $12,000 limit but hey.... that's what they have to play with. (not trying to be a dick... just putting it into perspective) Last edited by Fitseries3; Mar 11, 2008 at 05:05 AM. |

qx9650 and qx9770 are both 775.
the qx9775 is a 771 chip that is the same exact thing as the qx9770, just a different socket and multi cpu support. |
