Ibuypower
I want to get a computor from i buy power do u recommend this site is it any good? I t looks tempting for price vs. power I'm not so sure.

I avoid them at all costs. If you get a computer from that that works, consider yourself lucky. If you get one that doesn't work, which is a 50/50 shot, then consider yourself screwed because their customer service department is complete crap.

It's not hard to build your own computer. And if you are looking into a high-end gaming machine, us DIYers get a much better deal.

I've been back for like two months.
If you had to buy from one of them, I'd go with iBuyPower. They aren't as horrid as CyberPower, but definitely avoid both if you can. AVA Direct is a good company. Also look at MAINGEAR, Velocity Micro, and Puget Systems.
It's not hard to assemble components to form a computer. Most of them have unique connections, fittings, etc. The hardest part is choosing the parts. If you lurk around here long enough, and even peruse the New Build Thread, you'll eventually learn all you need to know to put parts together. |

WOW thanks for all that work I just was going to get a AMD Athlon X2 5200+ proccessor and as for the power supply I think its too good so im going to need to down that and ram 2gb is fine for me and only one hard drive is fine. level vid card it's a bit out of reach I was going for the HD 3850 or the 8600 GTS do you know any good deals on that site for those.

Spring for that video card man, save a little more. And stick with the 4GB--it will come in handy, espically if you plan on using Vista.

Once you have done all the research and built your own computer you will never buy a prebuilt again.
Actually, you will go to the preB sites to laugh at the prices when you need a little stress releif.

Tiger Direct sucks. If it isn't a refurbished item, it comes with a mail-in rebate. NCIX is a good retailer though.

Be clear with the way you word things around newbies. The spacers don't blow the motherboard up, it's the lack of use of the spacers that blow the motherboard up.

if lack of spcers blow the motherboard up. then wat happens if u have too many spcers? and i thought u said don't use spcers then if u don't use them won't ur motheboard blow up???

The spacers prevent the motherboard from making direct contact with the case. If you screw your motherboard directly to the case, your motherboard will blow up.
If you have too many spacers, you simply don't use them You place spacers exactly where you plan to screw the motherboard in. You should use every available spot. |
