Computex 2008: ELSA 9800 GT displayed

Even though it has not been announced officially yet by NVIDIA, ELSA has been showing a card at their Computex booth that is labeled as GeForce 9800 GT.

The specs are nothing impressive, 112 shaders, 1 GB GDDR3, 256-bit memory, 630 MHz / 1800 MHz clocks. So basically the card is a rebranded GeForce 8800 GT. There are hints that the 9800 GT will use a shrinked down G92 core @ 55 nm. But then we should see a higher clock, maybe ELSA just wanted to show something interesting...

G92B core - its G92, but 55nm instead of 65nm.

At least they arent re-releasing the different cores under the 8800GT name, that would have been confusing.

That has to be the most amazing stock cooler I think I have seen, beyond that, I have no idea. I am just waiting on seeing how the new HD 4k series and GT200 series cards actually perform, too many pre-release reports that can't be verified.

at least we know how this will perform - just like an 8800GT, only colder! (due to the 55nm, and that massive cooler)

this card should really be called a 8900gt and the 9800gtx should be 8900gtx. Nvidia's nomenclature is up its hole.

This card is not reference design, I think. In Fudzilla they say reference 9800 GT has 2 6 pin connectors, I don't know why though, better overclocking?

card looks kind of sloppy aesthetically anyway.
and it also looks like the the heat pipes might interfere with the sli bridge, unless you use a flexible one.

something tells me these wont be the the real clocks of the 9800gt.

Yeah I would expect a lot higher clocks from a card with such cooling on a 55 nm GPU, but it seems that's the real thing isn't it?

Good thing you didn't qualify the 100%.

There's a reason his website is FUDzilla. He cares only about page views. He makes up a lot of "news" to cause hysteria, hype, and bring people to his site.

and surely enough going for a 3870/3850 was a much more sensible idea than 2950 Pro/XT. everyones doing it dude, its a marketing decision, live with it.
