Toshiba Preps Qosmio X305 17-inch Gaming Laptop for Launch Next Month

Following all other brands that offer gaming laptops Toshiba has decided to join too, starting with Qosmio X305 - a 17-inch gaming station on the go. A quick sneak peak at some of the specs indicates Intel's still to be officially released Centrino 2 platform that includes a 3GHz dual core processor and up to 4GB of high-speed DDR3 RAM. Other specs of the laptop include a 1GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX with turbo cache VRAM, dual 200GB high-speed 7200 rpm hard drives for a total of 400GB and a 17-inch WSXGA+ display with 1680x1050 resolution. The Qosmio X305 also packs Harmon Kardon stereo system with 4 speakers and a subwoofer. The Toshiba Qosmio X305 is expected to be launched on July 14th.

Unless that thing packs a 12 cell battery, you're mobility wont be that great!
Other than that: It looks great, and the specs are awesome! Its like having an E8400 under the hood!

Turbo ram is another name for shared memory. For having a GTX Im hoping its not meaning that.

I've only seen the Qosmio series from Saudi Arabia (and they're crap). Does it even exist in the US?

My friend has been kicking himself for the longest for buying an Area-51 m17x. Its the sleekest lappy I've seen in a long time but the 3870 & 8800gt beats it That's where the price to performance ratio hits the wall - HARD

Desktops are forever

i agree...i do 90 percent of gaming with my 3870 on a desktop. but my lappie was horribily outdated. let me put it to you this way... it had no internal way to burn cds.. all it was good for was internet/document creation.. and tuning my wrx.. so i upgraded my mobility instead of my desktop.

pity about the turbo cache memory... that means that it uses system DDRII ram for the graphics... which will mean a lot of stuttering

i'm surprised how many people hate Toshiba here... i'm out of touch in the laptop world, but my Pentium 3 laptop still works great to this day.

Yep cooling is a big prob with lappys as its inadequate

with mine i end up elevating it at the back to alow air flow

If manufacturers came up with better cooling then we would see the term desktop replacement being a reality.

Looks shiny
My laptop has no battery and is held together with gaffer tape
But it would be way out of my price range

some poor, poor people... just cant assemble rigs. i dont mean build, i mean plug the cables in. I know a girl who 'pushed too hard' and her PSU 'burst into flames' sounds fun to me... she'd be a riot at a lan with that rig.
