Wow. I wasn't aware I ever stated I think the [H] is run better than TPU. No need to start a crusade. If I didn't like it here, I wouldn't spend all day coming here. Maybe another problem with TPU is its members are so quick to drive others away. Even one word of misunderstood disrespect or even non-existent comparisons and it's go away for good. I think I referenced HardForum's rules once. Maybe twice. I've been here over a year and this is the only time I've defended HardForum amidst the rampant bashing. I don't care if you hate it over there. I'm not going to defend them like it's my forum. I enjoy being over there. I enjoy being here.

To be blunt, your reasoning for using {h} is exactly why people use M$.

Well, if people want to continue arguing over crap that's not relevant to TPU, better yet, what's relevant to the reason this thread was created in the first place, go ahead and get infractions. I'm starting to grow tired with people not being able to get along or behave themselves. People need to step back and remember why they are here in the first place.

Referencing Palit_Guy's thread about HardForum, there's more to it than he mentioned. If that's the reason you hate the [H], then that's naive.

If you read the first post in this thread by W1zz, you will see that this thread was created because people were complaining about moderators and W1zz wanted to know about it.
It was not about other members or what they did.
It was not about other sites or the way they do things.
It was about the way TPU is run. Period.
Anything else is just not relevant to this thread.

You seem to refer to the [H] enough to seem like it's better than here, and how TPU could be more like [H].

BTW, you ever hear of a simple typo? People make 'em all the time, and you're gonna give me flak about it?

100% agreed . . .

this thread needs to stay dormant for at least 2 or 3 months before it can be necromancized

Just a reminder for those of you that seem to be forgetting. Please check your browser location bar located at the top of your screen. You are currently located at http://forums.techpowerup.com not http://hardforum.com. This thread is for criticism and feedback of Techpowerup! forums, not of Hardocp. The staff will be more than happy to keep reminding you with infractions if you wish to keep taking this thread off topic.

Here is something that is wrong with the forum... there is no single click link to get back to the TPU main page. It would be nice if there was an icon at the top of the page to back out of the forum. There is a drop down menu with a 'home' link... but who the heck wnats to click twice... pfft.

^That doesn't look tough now, does it? You only lose 500ms with two clicks instead of one. It's the first item in the menu.

Even short, when you're in a lengthy thread, press Home on the keyboard, followed by these two clicks.

Hello im still a bit new to these forums, but I read bits and pieces of this thread. I just wanted to say ive actually been reading these forums and other tech forums for a while now. Out of all of them I really wanted to be contributing member of this forum. Out of all the major ones ive been reading most of all is fanboism. I WILL admit im a fanboi, but ideally id like it to be balanced.

Alot of the other forums ive seen alot of times would be *SO* imbalanced that the members would get accustomed to recommending the products from the same company despite its price / performance. Ive seen it get SOO bad that the members would be delusional about the benchmarks themselves. They would be so in favor of their product (nv) that they cant comprehend bar charts that are obvious! Now im a ATI fanboi, but I wont lie when recommending products and admitting price/performance, but some websites are just plain ridiculous.

I know of 2 forums that dont have that and are balanced and have a useful website. They are Anandtech and TechPowerup. I dont post on Anandtech for the fact that their forums are vague and id feel I have alot to learn from the people of THIS forum.

So yea I hope to contribute and help out on this forum as much as I can. I will share my experience and help out whenever I can along with learning myself. MOST OF ALL although I will only be ATI myself, I will give people fair recommendations and wont be deluding people.

Thank you.

one good way to do it is ask if a person has a preference for ATI or nvidia first. if they want one, then offer advice in that area... if they ask 'whats the best' and such, then offer that. logic rather than fanboyism helps more. you;d be surprised how many people have told me to get high end video cards for my media PC, that doesnt even game... merely because they love the brand/cards so much they want to see it everwhere.

^ the board has seemed nice and balanced in terms of "fanboyism," or w/e in my short time here

i see it sometimes....but its usually good natured and not really taken seriously from most. i suppose i do see some stubborn / idiotic fanboy posts, but meh. can't keep it from happening. i ignore it, move on. and a good place for good natured ribbing is the "rate the system above you" thread. i like that one

many on the board seem knowledgeable, sincere, and ready to help. hell a nub made a thread and sort of got a very bad deal on a computer and some member came into the thread, offered to build him a PC with no labor charge, and shipped it out to him!

now thats what i call a board worth sticking around for

I think the whole "keep all threads on topic" is good in theory but forums are for the exchange of ideas and do you really want to start a new thread for everytime you want to go over something on the fringe of what the original thread was started for?

Think of it like spelling....... would we warn people to spell correctly or use proper grammar in the same fashion? It is relevant to proper communication but it can also be a nuisance to always worry with it.

Many people out there are very linear thinkers. You give them a topic and they simply think of that one thing.

There are also people like myself that think of the topic at hand but also have to consider all things around it to make a more in depth analysis. Afterall, everything has a frame of reference and you must compare things to each other to fully understand where something fits in its niche.

That was me. Its in transit to Canada, and should reach him in a few days.

The computer I built him is way more powerful than he needs, but atleast that means he won't have to upgrade for a while.

If a thread asks for help choosing a video card and it diverts to explaining video card architecture for a little while, that's acceptable. However, if the same thread topic changes to why nvidia sucks or I like cookies. Then it needs to be brought back on topic.

I think that the spirit of helpfullness in this forum is its strongest point.
I've sent stuff that I am not using anymore to people free, just because they needed it and could not afford to get one themselves. It was just sitting collecting dust anyway, so why not help someone out?

Once again, thank you W1zz and all the moderators for making this site the most enjoyable one of which I've been a member.

W1zz, if you ever run into problems I will be happy to help, monetarily or otherwise, to keep this great site alive and well.

With the rate at which new hardware is announced, that is not a trivial task.
Are you volunteering to maintain and update such a chart?
