NZXT Debuts Sentry LX High-Performance Fan Controller

California based NZXT debuted today its first fan controller named Sentry LX. While it looks cool and might actually be cool, Sentry LX is just another new fan controller on the market. All of its features listed below are pretty much the standard these days.

Simple Installation – Sentry LX slides easily into any dual 5.25” drive bay
Complete Control – 5 Temperature Probes keep tabs on all areas of your system while the 5 Fan controllers adjust the fans’ RPM speed
Auto/Manual Modes – Allows users to automatically adjust the fan speeds to correspond to a specific temperature or manually set your system for extreme overclocking capabilities or absolute silence
Temperature Alarm – Instant notification if temps rise above a designated point
Intuitive Interface and LCD Display – NZXT’s ergonomic interface design allows you to customize your airflow on the fly
Sleek Design – Aluminum plated front panel is designed to match any high-end chassis

Retailing for $59.99, Sentry LX will be available in July.

LOL I like the way they downplay their own piece of new hardware. "Just another" fan controller on the market, and the features are bog "standard" these days.

I think the "just another fan controller" was malware's comment, not theirs.

I have to admit it does look pretty slick.
I asssume it comes with some software to control everything?

At least it dont have all that marketing goodness going on. Lord knows we are tired of seeing and hearing that.

It does look sexy though. Ive never though about getting a fan controller, but this and the other one posted on the front page (today or yesterday with eSata and such) have really piqued my interests.

Looks very nice but takes 2 5.1\4 bays which i cannot spare due to having 2 120mm and a 80mm fan in the front. Another thing it would be a downgrade from the ZALMAN MFC2 which is in my case.

If it controlled at least 8 fans, I think I'd actually buy it. But not worth it for only 5 fans.

Believe me, it wouldn't be a downgrade. The Sentry LX it's better than the MFC2, in my opinion.

I currently have a MFC2 and I just reviewed a test sample of the Sentry LX here:

(It's in portuguese, but at least you can see the pictures and youtube videos)

The only things that would be a downgrade is the fact that the Zalman has a "Power Consumption" display and the PWM fan support (also the rpm sensing is more accurate).
The Sentry LX detects the maximum speeds of the fans connected and displays a real and safe custom range of RPM for each one. The alarm is more user friendly than the one in the Zalman. The Sentry LX has an AUTO mode that can control the fan speeds (slows them down if the temps are close to your custom maximums and speeds them up if the temps are close or above the temps you choose). It reads temps more precisely too. And the "giant" LCD display is way more easy to read than the Zalman's one.
