Watercooling advices needed.
Hey guys,
I am going to build a top end gaming rig soon, and have decided to go watercooling. After some research i think i will be getting this cooling kit: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...75/754/939/940). I will be using watercooling on a QX9650 overclocked to 4ghz and the chipset on ausu striker 2 extrem 790i motherbroad, and 3x geforce gtx280 in tri-sli (i will be getting the water cooled version of these cards). I am new to watercooling, could anyone please advice me whether using one of this watercooling kit will be enough to cool all the components above? only thing i am worry about is the cooling on 3 gtx280, they run hot. If anyone has any opinion, please share it with us. Thanks. |

Thats a pretty good kit for a CPU only and the chipset and/or 1GPU added. I dont know for sure it would perform better than air cooling all 5 blocks on just that loop!

Agreed, but with just the one radiator, I dont think it will cover your plans.

I say pump>>>rad#1>>>CPU block>>>Chipest block>>>Rad#2>>>Tri SLI blocks>>>back to the pump!
Its just a matter of the tubing getting tho everything, or making room for the second rad somewhere. Maybe a good 3X120 radiator could do it?

I am using the Swiftech on my Striker Extreme 2 for the Chip and my 2 watercooled XFX 8800Ultra's. Absolutely love it. Reduced the video cards from 70 to 42 degrees. System is stable. QX 6600 OC to 3.5Ghz, air cooled ram, Mobo chipset not watercooled. I did by a second rad, but never used it.
Have fun. |
