Here we go again ... Rain

Some of you may remember this thread about when half of Wisconsin flooded (and is still flooding in some parts a month later).

Well, it looks like it may happen again
We are supposed to just get hammered repeatedly between now and Saturday night.

Here's the radar right at the moment. Endeavor is where I work.

There are flood watches and warnings in dozens of counties again.

Got my snorkel and fins ready!!

Lol, I was about to start a thread just like this one! Sigh... I may have to stay away from the computer, it didn't like the last flooding storms we had earlier this year. The storms seem to be getting a little weaker now...

My parents left WI right before the first rain storm hit. It started the day after they left... I do feel for all that live up there... Hope all is well, or goes well

Thankfully, it looks like our little home will be spared this time around (We live near Montello)...

This is good, because we got hammered yesterday.
We had absolutely torrential rain coupled with 60+ mph winds.

If you've never seen something like that think almost hurricane.
It's raining side-ways (horizontally) and when it hits parked cars it fountains off the tops like the rostertail behind a speed boat.
Trees down all over the place.

Pretty cool to watch, not fun to be stuck outside during it. Driving is almost impossible as visibility goes to almost zero and your windshiled wipers cannot keep up with the deluge.

The constant lightning is a bit unnerving too. There are times when the thunder just rolls on for minutes at a time without letting up.

turn up those Scythe's and blow those storms our way, man!

I think they've finally got our fires under control or out (haven't smelled any smoke for a little over a week now); but we're still under drought conditions and in desperate need of rain!

Either way, stay safe, and ready the dingy!

@IR : I am glad the fires are not bothering you any more. The rain should be headed your way. Whether it makes it there is up to someone who has more say in the matter than me

@Ket : Not a chance, we all have 4-wheel drive vehicles. My Brother-in-law owns the company and lives in an area worse hit than ours. If he can make it, any excuse I came up with would look pretty lame

@Yogurt : They are, without the dust. I've been in sand storms in NV and I'll take the rain, thank you. Why don't you put your location in your profile? Doesn't have to be specific.

@IR : I was thinking someone with a little more clout than DTB

Thought about making out the engine got flooded and the 4x4 has sunk into the ground? That might work

OH!! You were talking about the world-wide moderator+administrator, eh? Yeah, he doesn't wield a banstick-'o-Do0M, but instead packs a D00Mstick-'o-Who0pass!

I honestly laughed out loud when I read that. Thank you, I always appreciate a good laugh.
Where we live, if the 4x4 sank into the ground the house would be gone and most of the neighboring towns. We are about 30 feet above a small river. If we flood, Wisconsin is in serious trouble.

@IR : The world-wide mod doesn't need a banstick. He's got the weather to take us out. Much more effective on a macro scale.

Okay, that was even funnier that Ket's post.

FEMA does it's thing, but here in WI we could get along without them regardless of what happens. It's called "being a good neighbor".

I know it's a difficult concept ....

it's a real shame as rain in America is much more enjoyable than it is in the UK... It's sad to see places flooding and we had it here a few years back in PA and people love to help other at such time which is really nice to see. We only had it 6FT were down the street had it to there roofs.

One thing that pissed me of about it was bush visiting the area when the money could of been put to better uses..

I wish the best for the people there and get though it ok.. Glad fema was there at the time it happened for us even though they were on about stopping it . not everyone has the money to rebuild and such so it's a good job we have these kinds of people.

EDIT:

Sounds like you not been in a flood as free time of work Umm. You realise all the crap that gets left behind. When the rivers ( 3 of them ) broke there banks and flooded the area and the water had gone but left think dried mud behind that blow every were for days on end. never mind the diseases . you have to throw all ya crap away hardly call it time off really.
