System Specs

Nvidia 5+++ series

may be an off topic, not many people often run these, but a friend of mine has a geforce 5500 OC 256mb,

and also a geforce 5200 128 mb,

both of the agp family,

what can we do to boast these cards to the max,

coolbits doesnt seem to work with the agp cards.

i havent tried rivatuner, or any other mods,

does anyone know anything about them?

System Specs

I had one MSI FX5200 128MB AGP, and CoolBits did work for it. It reached without any troubles by overclocking it the speeds of the FX5500 standard, I in fact flashed it with a FX5500 128MB AGP BIOS (I think it was a Gainward BIOS, wich was the less problematic) and still overclocked a bit more with CoolBits from the nVidia control panel (after all, it came at 250/400 and worked around 325/450, but test your own card to see where it gets stable). Other than overclocking them until they start giving artifacts there is not much more to do with this cards... they don't have any hardware units locked or anything to boost their performance appart from the speed margin. Actually, the FX5200 and the FX5500 carry the same GPU only differenciated by the speeds (and some other BIOS data) and the memory chips they carry.

That's the BIOS I used for my old FX5200, comes with the flashing app, but it needs to be edited with NiBiTor, it comes for compatibility with the speeds of the FX5200. Try first with Rivatuner to see where the memory chips reach without failing, and then edit the bios wich comes 250-200 to something like 275-225 or 300-250, it'll depend on what speeds you see more suitable. Usually the GPU has more margin than the memories.

Sorry I can't answer your question but I think you'd have better luck posting it as a new topic rather than burying it in a thread about an earlier series
