Need to ban this, and any accounts at here.
http://www.bugmenot.com/view/forums.techpowerup.com

I was going to check out any new arguements [seems to be quite a bit lately], but since google is my default search, it brought me to a google search. I saw that site in the search, and I was awfully curious. So, I tried, and it worked! This is a spam generated account. It needs to be banned.

Thanks,
3991vhtes

See, I'm pretty nice.. I'm helping cut out spam, oddly enough

Hope I can help, although I'm banned. I'm doing my best to cut out spam

wtf? shadowfold is in there?

before mods go deleting/banning people, make sure these accounts WORK and arent simply users names with fake passwords.

This is one thing I have a problem with on TPU...immaturity shining right on through imo. Maybe there's more to the situation here than not, but I know JC did not start this thread for the direction it went...it's just dissapointing to see a couple members become so disrespectful and turn on other members...this is a tech forum, a place of help with a very kickass community...then we get threads like this that turn into complete rubbish.

Not saying they can truly be stopped or those users should be banned, I'm just saying for me this is probably one of the very few issues I have with this place. This one only caught my attention because I was agreeing with JC's OP and then read on to see the thread take off into a different direction. I know not much to be done here, and it's one of those things with diverse communities, can't be avoided, can't really be stopped (right away that is)...but I figured it'd be a perfect demonstration.

Yup, my feelings mirror yours.....I have long beleived, although I appreciate some dont, that an origional thread starter should have the powers to close their own thread, that way for example, in JC's case, he could have stopped the sh*t by just closing it.......it does not impact on anyone else, he wanted it to stop......he just didnt have the authority to do anything about it.......

Edit: The more I think about this, the more I think it could help, it would cut 90% of the flaming in this community, for that other 10% (probably the OP wanting to start a flame, you have the mods who could close the thread).........the thread could be re-opened at a later time by a mod at the request of the OP if necessary (ie....there was a lot of good info in there) giving the mod plenty of time to edit/delete posts before it was re-opened.

That POS Bugmenot site works only when someone submits an account's details. Without peoples submissions, that site can't do sh**. An advice would be not to submit your account details

A lot of threads are being closed at the minute. Most of these threads are because of General Nonsense.

There are two mods for GN, error Force and Thermo 480. I haven't seen either of these around for some time now, unless they are always on when im in dream land :S

Anyway i don't think it should be up supermods to mod the GN - maybe a few more Mods for it?

Interesting how often people mention there being too few mods, though never do I hear people say certain members are/cause issues. If members behave no mods are required, so I'd say those two things basically mean the same thing.

Because blaming a member leads to yet more disruption. I can happily name a member that is a source of many arguments, but that wouldn't get anywhere.

I agree on that part. However I didn't mean naming specific people, just stating that people never even say "members tend to ....".
I recently noticed some incident that kinda went that way, though not in a way it should be.

As W1z stated.
"If you are afraid of posting publicly email me to w1zzard@techpowerup.com"

And of course, if not specific to this thread you can always mail/PM a supermod or Urlyin as well. Same goes when it concerns any issues of course.

Any supermod / admin can close a GN thread (or any thread for that matter). So Polaris573 does the job these days. All it takes is 2 clicks to close a thread....(more, if that's the first moderation action of the day). So get to any of the green mods (first) if you find a thread getting "waxed".

I agree Tatty in Jc's case it would of made things alot easier probably wont happen at least something to think about

Not to be rude or anything erocker but he did say "and if not what could be changed to make this a better place"

I guess some thought that meant they could suggest improvements.

If I could put in my two cents, perhaps the title of the thread invites negativity. "What's wrong with our forums" could be something like "Constructive Idea's for our forums", or something like that perhaps? Just a thought.
