What is a d-sub?

I'm assuming it's the oldschool VGA connector, can anybody help clarify for me?

D-Sub encompasses a series of sub miniature connectors. They aren't just limited to computer usage. You can buy both male and female D-Sub plugs and housings at your local RadioShack and build a connector for whatever purpose you want.

I've used them to connect complex electrical relay systems to switch/led control consoles, communication systems, alarm circuits, power solutions for multiple external computer peripherals, etc.

Yup. A VGA connector is also known as a D-Sub connector. It's typically a three-row 15 pin DE-15 connector.

Thanks guys, I was about to buy a monitor, but then I realized the specs said it didn't have DVI and only had one d-sub and I was like "wtf is a dsub?
