Yes I was replying to your statement in part. The last sentence however, was not. I found your criticism well though out and informative. As for my insecurities I do not think you are qualified to make that judgment in any way. I have a right to rebut criticism. The only reason I used the first person in my statement was because I cannot speak for all the moderators or their actions. I am only responsible for my own. I am bored and watching television on hulu.com so I monitor my usercp for post updates to threads periodically since I am at my computer. That is why my response was quick. Do not attempt to psychoanalyze someone from one paragraph. That is not how it works.

Its actually how it starts(IMO) but I was actually just surprised. Its good you care.

I think you are a great moderator. But if I find fault in something on a few occasions and there is a thread for it, I will voice my concern.

I think all moderators here, are among the best of all tech forums. I was just thinking we could consider TPU to be held to a higher standard, thats all. Most tech forums have moderators that are extremely moody, rude, and drunk with power from moderating a website from the torn leather couch of their parent's basement.

Also, mods are fairly good. If you do something wrong they PM you, not give an infraction right away. I think the mods are level headed. My only issue is them not being strict enough at times.

No mod ever does that for me!

I have been infracted 3 times at tpu and never had a warning first. So your experience is different.

All infractions timed out except one......

my personal opinion

tpu forum problem (like all other forums) lies in each user because we all have different view, perception, age, scale of value, education and is hard to create a happy family considering all this

also this isn't a democracy is a private site with own rules

power corrupt is true and we don't live in the utopian world were mods give warning or infraction themselves but who have courage shall do it and i'm sure will increase the respect of all here because all of us make mistakes

i don't believe in banning is too extreme and the banned one can make a new account through a proxy so what's the point?

why don't exist a page with a list with all who have received infractions like a wall of shame i'm sure who appears there for a determined time (higher the infraction higher the time) will be more careful in future what is typing..

A wall of shame would reveal favoritism in mods and give people the ability to then dispute infractions publicly. I think that would put mods at a disadvantage because it would make infractions then come under scutiny. Probably a bad idea...... unless they would support all infractions to become public. (they won't)

That aint gonna happen everyones entitled to privacy and infractions and banning are only the concern of the mods and the members in question no one else imho.

The bottom line here, is just like a football referee, sometimes a Mod may make a wrong call, if that is the case it is most probably because of a lack of info, or accurate info at least or perhaps just a bad day......we all have them, what we the users have to decide is simple........do we want to be here, moderated by a group of experienced members who have been given some responsibility to ensure our community runs as smoothly as possible, if we like what we see generally and accept that the mods here do a decent job more often than not, then we stay, if not......we can go and find somewhere else........for those of us who for whatever reason have REAL and serious issues with the system of moderation or individual mods and it's causing them major grief......I cant for the life of me understand why they have chosen to remain?

I have interacted with almost all of the mods here, and I think they are all great. I see some misunderstandings, I talked about it in a post way up the list... I guess you guys just get hit with the mods on their bad day.

I have NO issues with moderators. I treat them with respect, they do the same for me, you guys need to do the same. If everyone did this, there would be no problems. I think people need to stop complaining about the moderators.

The strictest mod? W1z, but he is far from mean. He is just busy. He has no time for you, and he will do what is the best fix for that situation that saves him the most time. That usually means a friendly: "please change you signature cause it is _____" through PM.

well its fairly easy to say it: very, very few users get banned for good off TPU. Thats all that matters - its not like one bad day or one stupid joke will get you banned forever.

That means TPU is just fine, as you can always come back a week later when your temp ban is expired, instead of digging yourself a deeper hole and arguing while you're here.

There's little margin for error. Each serious ban is thoroughly discussed/debated in the staff lounge where senior mods / admins throw their cents. So when they ban someone, rest assured, they did the homework. In the heat of the moment if the mod bans someone, usually it's a temp (short ban) and then it's discussed whether to keep it that way / extend it / lift it.

Something which the UK is whopping South Africa over for once.

And yes the Mods here are very lenient and let things run and grow into very nice discussions.

agreed as well . . . especially considering how uppity and over-reactive some users can be at times.

you gotta admit, for baby sitting a bunch of kindergarteners, preschoolers, middle-schoolers and weird old men . . . they do a damn fine job.

Indeed, plus even when it is obvious the thread is going to descend into madness, they still give us (the users) the benefit of doubt and try to turn it around. I am willing to bet that most other forums would say f-it lock and or delete it.

That example doesn't help explain it to US users. We don't play cricket and most US users have never even heard of it TBH.

You sure know what an Umpire is if you know Baseball. 3rd Umpire in cricket is the guy who sits indoor inside the stadium with a bunch of TV screens / computer monitors instead of being on the field. Resolves inconclusive decisions by field umpires. So Ump 3 is always equipped to decide properly, accurately.
