Thermaltake Readies V9 Gaming Chassis

Thermaltake released yesterday the V9 chassis, a new brand that stays behind the company's latest generation of gaming cases. Although it reminds of the famous Antec 900 a lot, the V9 has its unique black look and cool features. Airflow is the main strenght of V9, the case ships with a built-in 23cm top mounted fan, and a 120mm exhaust TurboFan (1300rpm,17dBA). With little extra skills you can also mount one 120mm or 140mm intake fan and one 70mm optional motherboard tray fan. Other design features of V9 include a bottom mounted PSU, pre-drilled holes for water cooling, tool-free design and place for a total of 11 drive bays: 4x5.25", 2x3.5", 5x3.5" hidden. Thermaltake sells the case in two variants: V9 - VJ40001W2Z with a transperant side panel and V9 - VJ40001N2Z with pred-rilled side panel holes for two extra 120/140mm fans. For detailed information on each case please click on the hyper links. Although just released, both cases haven't been officially priced yet.

70mm MB tray fan? Why not go 80mm?

Looks like a nice chassis, but I'd still want 2 fans for intake as an option like my Antec 900. Though I do like the looks...I'd go for the black sidepanel with predrilled fan mounts personally.

Though I'd like one them more center biased as a preference. I'm sure Thermaltake has good reason for their designes...depending on prices these could be quite interesting for builds and customizing. Though I am curious how a setup all "wired" up would look...doesn't seem to be too much for cable management. But it does look roomy none-the-less!

And what're you? A 98% troll.

So, with only the position of the PSU and mobo tray being identical, that = 98% of the case? I'm sorry. Your kind of mentality will make us end up with only one manufacturer making good cases, while the rest making POS cases. Please dont be a troll.

If its such a crappy case, then why does it have dust filters which the antec 900 doesnt have, and also a solution for wire management?

I would say this actually looks like CM690 inside, Antec 900 on the top. Bit of thermaltake on the front.
You've got to admit its not very original and looks like a cut and paste job in photoshop from other cases.
As for the 70mm fan holder. I have actually found it easier to locate 70x15mm fans than 80x15mm fans, which is what the CM690 needs (if you want one). So it probably is a good idea.
In any case (excuse the pun), Its nice to see MF's moving away from blue now, though red seem to be the next "in thing".

The Antec 900 design looks like Thermaltake's Armor series which was out well before the Antec 900.

From outside, it looks unimpressive. Totally plain looking. However it does have two things worth mentioning that are pretty decent. First of all, it is a steel case which will cut down on the vibration due to weight and block more noise coming from fans/drives. Second, although it does somewhat resemble some of the Antec cases, V9 has something most Antec cases don't: side placement for hard drive bays, which allows for much easier access to any drives.

It looks as good as it does on the website. Most manufacturers copy in one form or the other so this isnt that bad. I hope they keep the price down. TT makes some of the best, most excellent cases, however, they tend to be expensive. ThermalTake SWordM, Tsunami, Mozart, etc

Certainly does:

Wish my case had a PSU fan filter. Still might have to get one of those for mine...

I am between the case in the thread, and this case.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811119160

Both are very similar, but I am leaning for the Coolermaster.

I have had experience with both MF's.

I had the thermaltake Armor JR, and I have just replaced it with a CM 690.

I would choose the Cm out of those two anyday.

IMO the build quality is better on the CM's, features and practical design I have also found much better on the CM.

Obviously a lot of the decision in the case is personal preference.

i like the one in your post caboose. Never seen that on the egg before.

As for this case. It seems to be of a cookie cutter design out of all the case manufacturers recently. It's time for a more radical design to dethrone the antec 900 design.

Ya, my Thermaltake Soprano has been a good case, but I have heard some good things at CM. That 690 is what one of my friends has, and it is in a whole different league than mine.

The V9 looks like a slightly more upgraded version of the Antec 900. Either way, I like the smallest improvements as those quick-release features wow me. I also like those vents and fan slots near the hard drive and mobo area, that could come in handy in the summer time if you want to go for gold in OC. I really like the two 120mm fan slots at the side!

Hmm,

This case looks too much like the Antec 900. Personally,i dont know how thermaltake will last if they can't come up with new designs themselves. To me, it looks like they're just cheap copycats.

There is a quick release for the HD, tool less mounting for CD drives. There is an 80mm fan in the back of the mobo (clever) and there is more reinforcement.
